Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays, in many coutries there are lot of supermarkets where consumers can go to buy products of their choice. A lots o fruits all over the world are transported to the supermarkets where one can buy fruits.
To begin with, almost every kinds of foods are available in supermarkets. This is a positive development in any country. there are many benefits relating to this development. Firstly, when a consumer wants to buy any kind of fruit he can visit supermarket and buy from it as he have advantage of wasting of no time in search of it. After this, he can buy fresh meal and user friendly price as this price is often regulated and controlled by government authorities. For example, there are many fruits which are less produced or even fully not produced in our country, so we have an opportunity to visit supermarket and buy it.
Further this, there are also some negative factors to this development. When a food is transported from a country it takes a lot of time to reach to its destination. A lot of reasons involve in this so the price of food is not user friendly. As different costs involve reaching its destination as involves transportation costs and non-refundable taxes. When a food is not transported in its given time a fear to its quality also involve and is also a loss for both supplier and consumer.
To conclude this, I would say that supermarkets develpment plays a positive role in any country. Some disadvantges involve in this development, but it outweighs its advantages.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both positive and negative aspects of global food availability in supermarkets, presenting a clear concluding stance that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. However, the development of ideas remains somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the discussion on positive aspects focuses heavily on the convenience of buying fruit without offering fully extended arguments or distinct supporting examples. Similarly, the negative points regarding transportation time and costs are mentioned briefly without being thoroughly explored. To move to a higher level, the writer needs to provide deeper explanations and fully expand on their points rather than simply listing basic advantages and disadvantages.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay presents a clear overall arrangement with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, showing some organisation of ideas. However, the progression of ideas is occasionally disjointed, and cohesive devices are somewhat mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'To begin with' and 'Further this'. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, as seen in phrases like 'After this, he can buy fresh meal and user friendly price as this price is often regulated'. Paragraphing is attempted, but paragraph boundaries and internal links do not always guide the reader smoothly from one point to the next. Achieving greater clarity in logical progression and diversifying cohesive devices would improve the flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and minimally adequate for discussing the topic. There are noticeable lexical errors and awkward word choices, such as 'user friendly price' instead of affordable prices, 'fresh meal' instead of fresh produce, and 'develpment' due to spelling errors. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, but inaccurate collocations and word forms, such as 'a lot of reasons involve in this' and 'fear to its quality', cause some difficulty for the reader and restrict the lexical score. Expanding the range of vocabulary and ensuring accurate word choice and collocation will significantly enhance the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The essay demonstrates a limited range of sentence structures, with frequent reliance on simple or basic compound forms. Attempts at complex sentences are often faulty, featuring errors in verb forms, articles, prepositions, and plurals. Examples include 'in many coutries there are lot of supermarkets', 'A lots o fruits', and 'as different costs involve reaching its destination as involves transportation costs'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing capitalisation at the beginning of sentences like 'there are many benefits'. These frequent grammatical errors demand more effort from the reader to parse meaning, indicating a need for greater accuracy and structural variety.
