Student answer (Band 6.0)
In this rapidly growing world, it is a very common practice that food from all over the world is present at supermarkets and people buy that food. It is due to development of a network of fast traveling systems and equipments to preserve the food for a long period of time. This is beneficial for both consumers and producers. I think availability of food is a good thing and a positive develpoment.
Due to evolution of technology, there are recent innovative developmemts that had shorten the distances all over the world and increased the shelf life of food items. There are cargoes specially designed to carry eatables for a long distance. A specific type of temperature control systems and infra-red mechanisms are installed in them to keep food items fresh.
In most of the countries, it is common in superstores to have a section of various types of food from all over the world. This approach had made it easy for locals to get their hands on different type of food items from other countries. Due to different environment and varying soil conditions most of the countires have there food items, that grow only there. Due to this most of the people from other continent may even don't know that, how this thing even tastes like. But this availabilty of food, removes that barrier. For example, in my country Pakistan there are specific strains of mangoes that only grow here. This mango is being exported to different countries, this helps natives to generate a good income and helps the government to grow by forgein trade.
In conclusion, I think this approach brings a range of benefits to people all around the world. It is one of the types of globalization, that links the people all around the world, to get benefit from eachother. So, overall it is a positive development.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by taking a clear position that the availability of global food in supermarkets is a positive development. Relevant ideas are presented, such as the technological advancements in transport and the economic benefits for local producers like the mango farmers in Pakistan. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others; for instance, the discussion on how this availability removes barriers of unfamiliarity remains somewhat superficial and could have been extended with deeper analysis. Overall, the main position is clear throughout, aligning well with the characteristics of this level where ideas are present and relevant, though occasionally under-developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a recognizable progression of ideas from technological causes to economic effects and a concluding summary. Paragraphing is used appropriately to divide the introduction, technological background, specific examples, and conclusion. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty, as seen in repetitive sentence openings and basic transitional phrases like 'In most of the countries' and 'In conclusion'. Referencing is generally clear, but the links between certain sentences lack smooth integration, meaning the cohesive devices do not always work with complete flexibility, placing the text securely in this band.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items and subject-specific terms such as 'globalization', 'shelf life', and 'forgein trade'. However, there are noticeable spelling errors, such as 'develpoment', 'developmemts', 'countires', 'there' instead of 'their', and 'forgein'. Furthermore, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'fast traveling systems' and 'different type of food items'. These errors reflect the typical lexical limitations and slips characteristic of this level, though they do not seriously impede overall communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and subordinate structures like 'most of the countires have there food items, that grow only there'. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, including missing articles ('the development of a network', 'this availability of food'), awkward preposition usage, and subject-verb agreement issues such as 'equipments' and 'this approach had made'. Nevertheless, these errors rarely impede communication, and the writer maintains reasonable control over basic sentence patterns, matching the expectations for this grammatical level.
