Student answer (Band 5.0)

In the contemporary era, most of the consumers in many countries buy food from supermarket made all over the globe. This is due to the boost in the variety of food and I contend that it is a positive development because it is very important for economy and best nutrition products.

To commence, the first positive development is the raise in the economy of the state. Greater economy is very crucial for ones country to lead the global charge. Additionally, best nutrirtion products are available is the supermarket as compared to the local market. Furthermore, more various types of food are available in the supermarket. The more varity of food means more revenue can be generated which is very beneficial for the state and as well as for the community.

Secondally, better higenic environment is available in supermarket which is very important for well-being. Better options are available in the supermarket. The negative consequences includes the following things. The cost is very high is the supermarkets. All the individuals cannot afford the food in the supermarket. There are lots of formalities in the supermarkets that makes the environment unpleasant. Moreover, supermarkets are always crowded with the individuals is also a major factor that effects the food buying experience.

To put it in a nutshell, I want to say that supermarkets results in the increased number of economic development. Supermarkets are very necessary for the positive development of the country. Best of all the products are provided to the consumers.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response addresses the task only partially, as the writing falls slightly short of the minimum word count requirement, containing 249 words instead of the required 250. The student takes a clear position that global food availability is a positive development, mentioning the economy and nutrition. However, the ideas remain limited and under-developed. For instance, the claim that it raises the economy of the state is stated without sufficient explanation or elaboration. Furthermore, the response includes several contradictory points about drawbacks such as cost and crowds without clearly integrating them into a well-reasoned argument. To improve, the student needs to fully develop each main idea with relevant explanations and examples, ensure all prompt requirements are met fully, and comfortably exceed the word count minimum.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The essay displays some basic organization, such as attempting to structure the response into introduction, body, and conclusion paragraphs, but it lacks a clear overall progression. Cohesive devices are frequently inadequate, inaccurate, or repetitive, as seen in the excessive use of phrases like 'To commence,' 'Secondally,' and repetitive references to 'the supermarket.' Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal logical flow of ideas within paragraphs is weak. For example, the transition between discussing positive economic impacts and sudden drawbacks like high costs and crowded environments lacks smooth logical links. To move to a higher band, the student must employ a wider variety of cohesive devices naturally and ensure that each paragraph builds logically upon the previous one to create a cohesive and easy-to-follow argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student uses a limited but minimally adequate range of vocabulary for the task, though noticeable errors and spelling mistakes cause some difficulty for the reader. There are multiple spelling and word-form errors throughout the text, such as 'nutrirtion,' 'varity,' 'higenic,' and 'Secondally.' Word choice is often repetitive, relying heavily on basic terms like 'food,' 'country,' and 'supermarket.' While the writer attempts some less common vocabulary items, inaccurate usage and spelling slips prevent clearer communication. To achieve a higher band, the student needs to expand their lexical repertoire, accurately spell key terms, and use vocabulary with better precision and collocation awareness.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response exhibits a limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple or repetitive sentence patterns. When the student attempts more complex sentences, they are often faulty, featuring frequent errors in grammar, articles, plurals, and subject-verb agreement that can cause difficulty for the reader. Examples of errors include 'most of the consumers in many countries buy food from supermarket made all over the globe,' 'raise in the economy,' 'is available is the supermarket,' and 'supermarkets results in the increased number of economic development.' To improve, the writer must focus on increasing grammatical accuracy, mastering basic sentence patterns, avoiding frequent agreement and article errors, and demonstrating better control over complex sentence structures.
