Student answer (Band 6.5)
Globally, people can easily buy food produce from around the world in their local markets. This practice is a positive development as it allows accessibility to various different varieties of food and help in the development of international trade as well.
Firstly, the availability of different food varieties and cuisines allow people to experience the taste of various traditional food from different cultures. This helps bring people together and create a sense of unity and fimiliarity. For example, In recent years the use of Korean food has surged with influencers trying the Korean rice cakes and ramyeon noodles from their local asian marts. This created a trend and the demand for Korean food products in the international markets increased.
Secondly, the international availability of these varieties of food can help in the development of international trade of different countries. For example, according to a report published by the international trade organization most of the the GDP of different countries depends upon their exports to other countries. Thus, it is safe to say that international trade not only effect consumers but countries as well, economically.
In contrast, some people believe that the factor of international products dominating the local market is detrimental to the domestic businesses. They argue that, with the availability of foreign goods consumers tend to ignore the local produce and thus negatively effecting their businesses. For example, In 2019 an article was published in the dawn newspaper claiming that with the construction of CEPAC the local trade of Peshawar suffered and a record high level of 47% buinesses filed for bankrupcy.
In summary, the availability of different varieties of food in local stores help people become aware of different cuisines and boost the international trade but at the same time it is negatively effecting the local trade as well. Thus, it requires a proper intervention from governement to create policies that helps the international trade while reducing its effects on the local economies.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: you consider worldwide food availability positive, while recognising a possible cost to local businesses. You address both sides and support your points with examples, including the popularity of Korean foods and the claim about businesses in Peshawar. This meets the task well, but the positive case is more fully explained than the concluding position: the final paragraph shifts towards a call for government intervention without clearly reaffirming whether the overall development is positive or negative. Some support is also broad or insufficiently explained, particularly the link between food exports and national GDP. To strengthen the response further, explain how each example proves your judgement and make the final evaluation explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two paragraphs supporting the benefits, a contrasting paragraph, and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “In contrast” make the progression easy to follow, and the examples are generally placed alongside the points they illustrate. The organisation is effective, though some connections are a little mechanical, and the conclusion introduces government policy rather than directly resolving the comparison made in the body. The link between international trade and consumer benefits could also be made more explicit. For stronger progression, use transitions that show the precise relationship between ideas and ensure the conclusion synthesises the argument already developed rather than adding a new emphasis.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range for the topic, including phrases such as “international trade,” “domestic businesses,” “traditional food,” and “local economies.” These help communicate the main ideas, and attempts at more formal vocabulary are evident. However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or repetitive: “food produce” is awkward, “different varieties” repeats the same idea, and “the use of Korean food” does not naturally describe its growing popularity. Spelling errors such as “fimiliarity,” “buinesses,” and “bankrupcy” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, describe demand for Korean products as having “increased” or “grown,” rather than saying their “use” has surged.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including subordinate clauses such as “as it allows…” and “with the availability of foreign goods…”. Most sentences remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. Subject–verb agreement is inconsistent in “varieties … allow” and “availability … help,” while “negatively effecting their businesses” is not correctly formed in its sentence. There are also errors in “most of the the GDP” and “trade … effect consumers,” where the article and verb form need attention. These issues rarely prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, but they limit accuracy. Review agreement with singular subjects, distinguish “affect” from “effect,” and proofread articles and sentence construction.
