Student answer (Band 6.5)

Nowadays, consumers have access to the food from around the globe. I believe that it has positive economical impact to the development. Even the landlocked countries can enjoy seafood without getting worried about the availability.

Firstly, the world has become a global market. People travel world wide and they tend to taste a lot of things. People's interest in trying different cuisine around the world is inevitable. In this era of tourism, people love to travel and while they travel, at some point they might miss food from home. Despite being far from home, they will be able to cook food of their liking because the ingredients are easily available at supermarket.

Last time when I was working in hotel, a guest asked for a special salmon. Eventhough we are in a landlocked country, we prepared his salmon in a way he liked and he was surprised that we were able to match the taste as he was expecting. He enjoyed that succulent salmon steak and appreciated it. In this scenario, we were able to get that salmon because it was available in the supermarket.

Furthermore, to enhance the point that it is a positive development, many countries' economy like Srilanka and Maldives rely heavily on exporting seafood. Food being transported all over the country is interrelated with the economical independence. Even from Nepal , we export local herbs and spices to the other countries and it has made significant difference in our economy at certain level.

To conclude, there are various benefits of food being available in supermarket. Not only people's convenience but there are economical benefits as well for the country. Along with providing local taste to anywhere in the world, it results in bossted economy.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you consider worldwide supermarket food a positive development, and you support this with points about consumer choice, people living or travelling abroad, and export income. The hotel example about sourcing salmon in a landlocked country gives the argument a concrete illustration. The response therefore addresses the question and includes relevant support. However, the economic argument is less fully explained: the links between food being transported internationally, economic independence, and the examples of Sri Lanka, the Maldives, and Nepal are asserted rather than clearly demonstrated. Some discussion also focuses on availability and convenience without exploring possible wider effects. To strengthen the response, explain how each example directly supports your overall judgement and develop the economic point more precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall shape, moving from an introduction to reasons and examples before reaching a conclusion. Paragraphs generally have identifiable purposes, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Furthermore,” and “To conclude” help readers follow the argument. The personal salmon example is placed logically after the discussion of international tastes. At times, however, connections between ideas are not fully clear. For instance, the paragraph beginning “Furthermore” moves from seafood exports to Nepalese herbs and spices without explaining the relationship between these examples and the preceding point. Some linking phrases also feel formulaic, and “In this scenario” refers rather vaguely to the hotel anecdote. Make the progression more explicit by linking each example to the claim it supports and using clearer references.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “global market,” “ingredients,” “landlocked,” “exporting seafood,” and “economic independence.” The salmon anecdote also includes a more descriptive phrase, “succulent salmon steak.” These choices communicate your ideas, but some word forms, collocations, and spelling choices are inaccurate or unnatural. For example, “positive economical impact” would be more naturally expressed as “positive economic impact,” while “people’s interest … is inevitable” does not convey the intended idea precisely. “Bossted” is misspelled, and “food being transported all over the country” seems inconsistent with your discussion of international trade. Aim for more precise topic vocabulary and check spelling and collocations during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including a concession clause in “Despite being far from home…” and a conditional construction in “Even the landlocked countries can enjoy seafood without getting worried…”. Most sentences remain understandable, and errors rarely prevent the reader from following your meaning. Some grammatical inaccuracies persist, however. In “Last time when I was working in hotel,” the article is missing, and “we are in a landlocked country, we prepared” shifts tense within the anecdote. The sentence beginning “Even from Nepal” also has an unclear grammatical relationship between its clauses. Review articles, tense consistency in past narratives, and sentence boundaries. More consistently accurate complex sentences would make the argument easier to read.
