Student answer (Band 5.5)

Consumers purchase fruits from the supermarket which imported from all over the world. This essay discuss my opinion on this argument.

In my opinion, Purchase different fruits from the supermarket is a positive contribution. In past, people depennds upon the locan fruits. Consumers can get access to different imported varities of the fruits which are cultivated across the different regions of the world. For example, The people of pakistan can taste the fruit varities from new zeland by importing and consuming through the supermarket. In additon, import significantly enhance the economy of a country.

Another benefit is that international trade can create opportunities for the farmers and food prodecures. Farmer can get more profit by importing thier fruits. It also helps to improve the relationships between the nations. It could be helpful to exchange and understanf the different cultures. For instance, Italic food is very prominent and people like to eat in Asia. Also, Chinese food is very popular accross the diiferent regions.

Admittedly, importing food over long distances can contribute to environmental problems because transportation requires fuel and produces greenhouse-gas emissions. Moreover, an excessive dependence on imported food may put pressure on local producers if they cannot compete with cheaper foreign products.

In conclusion, although the global availability of food may have some environmental and economic drawbacks, I consider it a positive development overall. The greater variety available to consumers, together with the economic and cultural benefits of international food trade, outweighs its disadvantages.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you consider worldwide food availability positive, and the conclusion acknowledges environmental and economic drawbacks before reaffirming that view. You also give relevant reasons, including consumer choice, trade, and cultural exchange, with examples such as Pakistanis tasting fruit from New Zealand. However, some points are asserted rather than explained: the claim that imports “significantly enhance the economy” and the benefit to farmers need clearer reasoning or a specific example. The discussion of local producers is relevant but brief. The response is also five words below the required minimum, so it does not fully meet the task’s length requirement. Develop each main reason with a clearer explanation and supporting detail.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two paragraphs presenting benefits, a paragraph acknowledging drawbacks, and a conclusion. This makes your position easy to follow. You use signposting such as “In addition,” “Another benefit,” “Admittedly,” and “In conclusion” to show how points relate. However, the progression within the benefits paragraphs is sometimes abrupt: the discussion moves from farmers’ profits to international relationships and then to food popularity without fully connecting these ideas. Some references, such as “It” in “It also helps to improve the relationships,” could be more precise. Group related points and use linking sentences to explain how each example supports the paragraph’s main idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “imported,” “cultivated,” “international trade,” “greenhouse-gas emissions,” and “local producers.” These choices help communicate the subject and show attempts to use more specific language. However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, for example “varities,” “prodecures,” “thier,” and “accross.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “import significantly enhance the economy” and “Farmer can get more profit by importing thier fruits.” Aim for accurate collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise wording about who exports or sells the produce would also make your economic argument clearer.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple statements and more complex structures, including the concession beginning “although the global availability of food…” and the conditional clause “if they cannot compete.” These help you express contrast and qualification. However, errors in sentence formation and grammatical control are frequent enough to affect clarity. For example, “This essay discuss my opinion” has subject–verb agreement and verb-form problems, while “fruits from the supermarket which imported” is missing a suitable relative-clause structure and auxiliary. There are also issues with articles, plurals, and agreement, as in “Farmer can get more profit.” Review basic sentence patterns and check each sentence for a clear subject, correctly formed verb, and appropriate articles before adding complexity.
