Student answer (Band 6.5)
In contemporary societies, food produced all across the world can be bought by consumers through their local supermarket in numerous countries. In my opinion, this is a positive development since people can buy everything in their own country as well as help promote their culture. However, one might still need to travel to experience the true taste of a food.
Previously, it was quite difficult to taste the food of different countries. One has to visit the country of origin of a specific food, which takes time as well as money. Take for example Biryani which is the national food of Pakistan. People had to travel all the way to their country to try the original recipie. Nowadays, anyone can buy the ingredients of that recipie through their local supermarket, and make the dish themselves at home, anywhere in this world.
Moreover, it also helps promote cultural exchange. The food of a specific country tells alot about their culture and tradition. In some countries the residents prefer spicy food, such as Asian local food has alot of spices in it. In contrast, other countries might prefer mild spices in their food like Russian cuisines or many European cuisines. Therefore, by tasting a specific food one can tell alot about its culture, and their preference.
However, this might bring certain disadvantages to the local communities, who don't consider everyone skilled enough to make any recipie themselves. The original taste can only be brought about by the experts of that specific food. One might try to make the dish at home through the ingredients available, but the exact taste is difficult to achieve, as true essence lie in the skills of maker.
In conclusion, modern societies have made an easy access to all sorts of food across the world, which has brought about revolution in terms of cultural exchange and accesibility all over the world, however, the originality of a food can only be achieved through skills and expertise.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: you consider worldwide food availability positive, mainly because it makes international dishes accessible and encourages cultural exchange. You address the opposing side as well, noting that home cooking may not reproduce an expert’s original taste, so the response covers both the main view and a qualification. The biryani example gives a relevant illustration. However, some claims are not fully explained: the point that consumers “help promote their culture” is unclear, and the disadvantage about local communities is not convincingly connected to the issue. To strengthen the response, explain more precisely how supermarket access benefits consumers or food producers, and develop the limitation without weakening your central position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two paragraphs supporting the positive view, a paragraph acknowledging a drawback, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “In contrast,” and “However” help signal the direction of the argument. The progression is generally understandable, but some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “However, this might bring certain disadvantages to the local communities” introduces a concern about people’s cooking skills, but the link to local communities is not explained. The conclusion also combines several ideas in a long sentence, making the final contrast less clear. Use more precise referencing and ensure each paragraph develops one connected point, with transitions that show the relationship between claims rather than simply announcing them.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “cultural exchange,” “ingredients,” “original taste,” and “expertise,” and the meaning is generally clear. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “the country of origin” and “true essence.” However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “promote their culture,” “make an easy access,” and “the skills of maker.” Spelling errors such as “recipie,” “alot,” and “accesibility” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more natural combinations and check spelling carefully. For instance, you could say that international food “introduces consumers to other cultures,” that supermarkets “provide easy access,” and that a dish’s flavour depends on “the cook’s skill.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including relative clauses (“who don’t consider everyone skilled enough”) and contrast structures (“In contrast, other countries might prefer…”). Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, but some grammatical errors remain. In “One has to visit,” the shift from the past-time opening to the present tense is inconsistent; “People had to travel all the way to their country” also has an unclear pronoun reference. There are agreement and article problems in “the true essence lie in the skills of maker,” and the final sentence joins contrasting ideas with a comma, creating a run-on structure. Review tense consistency, singular/plural agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries. These corrections would make your varied structures more controlled.
