Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the introduction and conclusion: you consider worldwide supermarket food a positive development. You give relevant reasons, including greater consumer choice, support for exporting economies and job creation, and the examples about developing nations and Canada help illustrate these points. This addresses the task, but the reasons are not developed equally. The point about seasonal produce is brief, and the survey and employment figures are presented without explaining how they demonstrate the claimed benefits. The response would be stronger if you explained the effects more fully and used specific, clearly connected examples. The required length is met.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting benefits, and a conclusion that restates your view. Sequencing phrases such as “To commence with,” “Furthermore,” and “To recapitulate” make the progression easy to follow, and the main ideas are generally grouped appropriately. This meets the lower-band expectations and shows some features of stronger organisation. However, the linking can feel mechanical, and some connections between claims are not fully explained—for example, the move from seasonal produce to saving time. Improve progression by linking each example directly to the point it supports, and use pronouns and transitions precisely so relationships between ideas are clearer.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “consumer choice,” “global trade,” “employment opportunities,” and “agriculture sector.” These choices help communicate the main argument, and some less common expressions show ambition. However, the range is not always controlled: phrases such as “fullfill their demands regarding the needs,” “ample of profits,” and “earn bread and butter” are awkward or imprecise in this context. Spelling errors, including “formost,” “availabe,” and “assit,” also reduce accuracy. Build a more reliable set of natural collocations for trade and food supply, and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise wording would make your ideas easier to understand.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You use both simple statements and attempts at longer, more complex sentences, including explanations introduced by “To explain” and “To elaborate.” The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but control is inconsistent, particularly in longer sentences. For example, “there are plenty of options are available” combines two sentence patterns, while “it is help customers” and “which helps to reduced a poverty” show problems with verb forms and agreement. Articles and sentence construction also need attention. Practise building accurate clauses before extending them with subordinate information, and check subject–verb agreement, infinitives, and verb forms. Greater accuracy in these patterns would make the argument clearer.
