Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is often argued that currently in several countries people can go to superstores and buy different food items imported from all over the world.

I believe this is a positive development. This essay will discuss the main reasons from my viewpoint.

The first and the most important reason from my perspective is that imported food from different countries promotes their cuisine and culture. This is because many countries cannot grow seasonal foods due to climate variation, As a result they are unable to enjoy seasonal food. for example dragon fruit cannot be produced in Pakistan, but people love to eat these fruit.

Therefore, making out-season and international food items available in supermarket is a positive development.

Another significant reason is that non-seasonal or international food store in supermarket by using different chemicals eventually affect on health these can lead to allergy or different environmental impact like transportation food by using ships or aero plane its cost effective pathway consume high fuel or petrol which ultimately cause pollution or global warming.

Hence, this further support my view I strongly believe that different varieties or different culture cuisine available in supermarket is a positive development. It also promote culture awareness to try different culture food, It also impact on economy and food trade along with that food security if due to any disaster shortage of food occur in individual country it can also fulfill these need.

Conclusion, I strongly believe that non seasonal or international food available in different store lead to positive development, I believe that it promote culture all over the world.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you consider worldwide supermarket food a positive development, and you give relevant reasons, including cultural exchange, access to foods that cannot be grown locally, and food security during shortages. The dragon-fruit example helps illustrate the point about climate. However, the response only partly develops the task: the cultural and food-security benefits are asserted rather than explained with specific supporting detail. More importantly, the paragraph beginning “Another significant reason” introduces health and environmental harms, but does not make clear how these concerns fit your positive position or weigh them against the benefits. Develop each main reason with a clear explanation or example, and explicitly acknowledge why the overall advantages outweigh the disadvantages.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay has an introduction, separate body paragraphs and a conclusion, and signposts such as “The first… reason,” “Another significant reason” and “Conclusion” show an attempt to guide the reader. However, progression is difficult to follow because the second body paragraph shifts to negative effects, then the next paragraph returns to benefits without explaining the relationship between them. Several linking expressions are also repetitive or awkward, including “Therefore,” “Hence” and “It also.” The long sentence beginning “Another significant reason” combines several points without clear boundaries, making the connections hard to track. Give each paragraph one clear purpose, use transitions that show contrast or consequence accurately, and make references such as “these need” explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “seasonal foods,” “climate variation,” “food security,” “pollution” and “global warming,” which helps communicate the subject. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “promotes their cuisine and culture.” However, vocabulary is often repetitive or imprecise: “different” and “positive development” recur, while phrases such as “non-seasonal food store in supermarket” and “transportation food” are difficult to interpret. Some word forms and collocations are inaccurate, for example “culture awareness” and “cost effective pathway.” Choose more precise expressions and check how words combine—for instance, describe food as being “transported by ship or air” and discuss “cultural awareness.” This would make your ideas clearer and more natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with reasons and results, as in “This is because many countries cannot grow seasonal foods…” However, complex sentences are often faulty or run together, particularly the sentence beginning “Another significant reason is that…” and continuing through the claims about chemicals, health, transport and pollution. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent: “As a result” follows a comma, and “for example” begins a sentence without appropriate capitalization. Agreement and sentence construction errors appear in phrases such as “It also promote culture awareness” and “these need.” These problems sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to understand. Practise building one complete clause at a time, then join clauses with accurate punctuation and conjunctions; check subject–verb agreement and singular/plural forms.
