Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, people in many countries can purchase food items from diifferent parts of the worls in supermarket. In my opinion, i believe that it is a postive development because it provides consumers with greater choice and access to a variety of foods throughout the year.

To begin with, One major advantage of buying food from different countries is that consumers have more options. They can try different cuisines and enjoy products that are not available locally. For example, people living in India can purchase Italian cheese, Australian apples and Japanese snacks without travelling abroad. Furthermore, international food supplies allow consumers to buy seasonal products throughout the year, even when these items cannot be grown in their own countries. This can improve convenience and make a wider range of foods accessible to the public.

Additionally, another benefit is that international food trade can strengthen economic relationships between countries and create employment opportunities in transportation, storage and retail. Farmers in countries with suitable climates can export their products to international markets, increasing their income and expanding their businesses. As a result, consumers benefit from greater availability, while exporting countries can earn additional revenue.

However, this trend has certain disadvantages, local farmers face difficulties to compete with cheaper goods, which could negatively affect their livelihood. In addition, it also causes air pollution regardin trasnsport

In conclusion, i believe that it is a postive development as it provide various advantages such as greater consumer choice, year- around availibility, economical growth, employment opportunities and various other benefits all over the world.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction and conclusion: you consider worldwide supermarket food a positive development. You support this with relevant points about consumer choice, access to seasonal products, trade, and employment, and the examples of Italian cheese, Australian apples, and Japanese snacks make the discussion concrete. You also acknowledge disadvantages, including pressure on local farmers and transport pollution, so the response addresses both sides of the question. However, the disadvantages are only briefly introduced and the final point about pollution is left unfinished, while the economic benefits are asserted more than explained. Develop these ideas with a clear explanation or example, and show why the advantages outweigh the drawbacks.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction states your view, body paragraphs present supporting reasons, and a conclusion restates your position. Linking expressions such as “To begin with,” “Furthermore,” and “As a result” help readers follow the main points. However, the progression becomes less controlled in the paragraph beginning “However”: the contrast is introduced, but the pollution point ends abruptly, leaving the paragraph incomplete. Some transitions also feel mechanical, particularly “Additionally, another benefit,” which repeats the same linking function. Organise each paragraph around one developed point, complete the counterargument, and use a concluding sentence to connect it back to your overall position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary for the topic, including “international food supplies,” “seasonal products,” “employment opportunities,” and “exporting countries.” These choices communicate the main ideas clearly, and examples of foods from different countries add specificity. However, spelling errors and some imprecise or unnatural expressions reduce control: “diifferent,” “worls,” “postive,” “availibility,” and “trasnsport” are noticeable, while “economical growth” is not the natural phrase for this meaning. “Air pollution regardin trasnsport” is also incomplete and unclear. Proofread carefully and learn common collocations such as “economic growth” and “transport-related emissions” to make your vocabulary more accurate and natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional-style clause in “even when these items cannot be grown in their own countries” and a result clause beginning “As a result.” Most of the main argument remains understandable. Some grammatical errors are present, however. For example, “people in many countries can purchase food items … in supermarket” needs an article or plural form, and “it provide various advantages” has subject–verb disagreement. The sentence beginning “However, this trend has certain disadvantages, local farmers…” joins two independent clauses with only a comma, and the following pollution point is unfinished. Check articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, and complete each sentence before moving to the next idea.
