Student answer (Band 5.5)
in recent years, shopping through supermarkets and buying food producted all over the world have become increasly common. Although this trend offers a several advantages, it also has significant drawbacks. This essay will examine and explain both sides.
One major advantage of buying product produced all over the world is that consumers do not travel to another country for the reason of trying its product this is because in the nearest supermarket they will find a lot of choices from different countries. For example during a shopping in UK's supermarket there are products from the united states, Asia, Africa and from all the world well organised and presented for consumers. Therefore, people exchange culture through the exportation of goods. Another benefit is that the economy level will rise as the importation and the exportation of goods are not interrupted.
Despite these benefits, supermarkets have several disadvantages. The most significant drawback is that individuals will consums a numberous products everyday. This can occur because of the large offer of products. For instance, a person who find different goods especially the foreign obes, he will be curious to try each product. Consequently, people will spend a lot of money on shopping istead of saving for the hard days. Furthermore, goods in market are not healthy, which can lead to some deseases such as obesity and allergy
In conclusion, buying food from supermarkets has positive and negative aspects. Although, the large offer can be beneficial, the exceeded consumation should be taken into consideration.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address the positive-or-negative question by presenting benefits and drawbacks, and your conclusion recognises both. The examples about international products in UK supermarkets and spending more because of wider choice are relevant. However, the task asks you to decide whether this is a positive or negative development, and your position remains unclear: the introduction promises to examine both sides, while the conclusion does not say which side outweighs the other. Some ideas are also under-developed. For example, the claim that trade raises the economy is not explained, and the health concern is asserted without showing how globally available supermarket food causes it. State a clear overall view and develop each main reason with a more precise explanation or example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph on advantages, one on disadvantages, and a conclusion. Sequencing is generally easy to follow, and signposts such as “One major advantage,” “Despite these benefits,” and “In conclusion” help readers identify the stages of the argument. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The first advantage sentence runs several ideas together, making the relationship between convenience, choice, and cultural exchange difficult to follow. “Therefore” does not clearly show how the example leads to cultural exchange, and “Although” in the conclusion introduces a contrast without completing a clear overall judgement. Use shorter, more clearly linked explanations and ensure each linking phrase accurately expresses the relationship between ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “consumers,” “exportation,” “importation,” “obesity,” and “allergy,” and you attempt to express ideas about choice, trade, and spending. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, word-form, and spelling errors make parts of the response less clear, such as “producted,” “increasly,” “consums,” and “exceeded consumation.” Some combinations are also unnatural, including “economy level will rise” and “goods in market.” These errors sometimes require the reader to work out your intended meaning. Build a more accurate set of collocations for this topic, and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise vocabulary would also help distinguish the availability of imported food from excessive consumption.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a concession in “Although this trend offers…” and a relative clause in “a person who find different goods.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors in agreement, articles, sentence boundaries, and punctuation occur throughout. For example, “a person who find” needs subject–verb agreement, while “consumers do not travel … this is because” joins clauses without suitable punctuation or a conjunction. The sentence beginning “For example during a shopping” also needs clearer grammatical framing. These problems sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Practise building accurate sentences with one main idea at a time, then add subordinate clauses and check agreement, articles, and punctuation.
