Student answer (Band 5.5)
nowdays, people in many different countries can purchase food from differentparts of the world in their local supermarkets. i belive this is a positive development because it gives consumers more choices and allows them to try different types of food.
on the one hand, buying food from different countries has several advantages. one majar advantages is that people can enjoy different types of food without travelling abroad. for rxample, people in nepal can buy chocklates, fruits, and other food products imported from foreigncountries. as a result, consumers have more choices and can experence different cultures through food.
another important advantage is that importing food can help countries develop their business and economics. for example, supermarket can sell international products and attract more customers. furthermore, people can buy certain foods that are not available locally. this makes shopping more convienent for consumers. this can provide employement for many people. in addation, importing and exporting food allows countries to earn money and build business relationships with other nations.
in conclusion, i believe that buying food from different parts of the world is a positive development because it provides more choices, introduce people to different cultures, and makes shooping more convenient

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
Your position is clear: you consider worldwide food availability positive, and you give relevant reasons, including greater choice, cultural exposure and convenience. The examples about people in Nepal buying imported products and supermarkets attracting customers help connect your points to the topic. However, the response addresses the task only partially because the reasons are mostly asserted rather than explained or supported in depth; for instance, the claim that food imports help countries develop their “business and economics” needs a clearer explanation or a specific example. The conclusion repeats the main benefits but does not add development. The response is also below the required 250 words, so there is limited space to develop your ideas. Extend each main point with explanation and a relevant example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction states your view, two body sections present supporting reasons, and a conclusion restates your position. Linking phrases such as “on the one hand,” “for example,” “furthermore” and “in addition” make the relationships between points easy to follow. However, the progression within the second body paragraph is less controlled: convenience, employment and international business relationships are added in quick succession without showing clearly how each connects to the main point. The repeated use of “another important advantage” and “in addition” also makes cohesion somewhat mechanical. Group related ideas together and use referencing or transitions that show cause and effect, so the paragraph develops one central point more smoothly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “consumers,” “imported,” “international products” and “business relationships.” These choices show awareness of the subject, and the reader can generally understand your meaning. However, the range is limited and some wording is imprecise or repetitive, such as “different types of food” and “more choices.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “majar,” “chocklates,” “convienent” and “employement,” which reduce accuracy and can distract the reader. Some phrases, such as “develop their business and economics,” are not natural in this context. Build a wider set of accurate expressions for trade, availability and consumer choice, and proofread spelling and collocations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You communicate your position using mostly straightforward sentence patterns, and you attempt some longer structures with connectors, as in “because it gives consumers more choices” and “that are not available locally.” These attempts help express reasons and supporting details. However, the range remains limited, and errors in sentence construction and punctuation occur across the response. For example, “one majar advantages is” has a singular verb with a plural noun, while “this can provide employement” has an unclear reference to what provides employment. Several sentences begin with lowercase “i” or “one,” and commas are sometimes joined directly to the next word. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, clear pronoun reference and punctuation, then add a few controlled complex sentences to explain cause and effect.
