Student answer (Band 5.5)
In many countries these days, people can go to a supermarket and get the food produced all over the world. I believe that this is a positive development. The reasons for why I think that it is a positive devlopment are given below.
First and foremost, it is a great way to save time. We all know that time is a valuable thing and travelling long distances to get the food we want wastes alot of time but in many countries with all the food available in the nearest supermarket consumers can save alot of their time. Morever, with the advancements in technology and all the food apps that are available today they can even order their food online through the apps which will arrive at their doorstep. For example, ordering the food I want from the nearest supermarket than to travel long distances can save a alot of time for me.
Secondly, it also helps to save a great amount of money. We do not have to waste money on travelling to get the food we desire which could be readily available at the nearest supermarket. Before this facility, if people used to desire something and they knew it is only available in another part of the world, they used to waste money on travelling but now that money can be saved and invested in something more beneficial. For example, getting the food from the nearest supermarket than to travel far would save my money as I do not have to spent that money on transportation.
In conclusion, this is a very positive development for consumers to get the food they want from the nearest supermarket than to travel all over the world.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
Your position is clear from the introduction: you consider worldwide food availability a positive development, and the response stays focused on that view. You give two relevant reasons—saving time and saving money—and include personal examples. However, the discussion only partly addresses the issue because both reasons mainly concern avoiding travel, rather than explaining the wider effects of being able to buy food from different countries. The examples repeat the same supermarket-versus-travel point and are not developed with much explanation. To strengthen the response, explain more fully how international food choice benefits consumers, such as by providing variety or access to foods unavailable locally, and support each reason with a specific, clearly explained example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present separate reasons, and a conclusion restates your position. Signposting such as “First and foremost,” “Secondly,” and “In conclusion” makes the sequence easy to follow. However, the organisation is somewhat mechanical, and the examples in both body paragraphs repeat a similar comparison with travelling long distances. Some links between ideas are also awkward, particularly the transition from supermarket availability to ordering through apps. Use a wider range of natural connections and make each paragraph progress from its main point to an explanation and a distinct example. This would make the argument feel more connected rather than relying mainly on formulaic markers.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough everyday vocabulary to communicate your main points, including “valuable,” “readily available,” and “invested,” and the reader can understand your position. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “food,” “save,” “nearest supermarket,” and “travel.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, such as “devlopment,” “alot,” and “Morever,” which reduce accuracy. Some phrasing is unnatural, for example “a great amount of money” and “get the food we desire.” Build a more precise range for this topic, using expressions such as “access to international products,” “reduce transport costs,” and “a wider selection,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “which” and “if,” and your meaning is generally understandable. However, control is uneven, particularly in longer sentences. For example, “Before this facility, if people used to desire something and they knew it is only available…” shifts awkwardly between past and present forms; “I do not have to spent” should use the base form after “have to.” The comparison “ordering … than to travel” is also not formed correctly, and “a lot of their time” is repeated in sentences that could be more clearly structured. Practise accurate verb forms and parallel comparisons, and divide long sentences where needed. More consistently controlled complex sentences would improve clarity.
