In many countries nowadays, consumers can go to a supermarket and buy food produced all over the world.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.5)
In the current societal landscape, many people argue that the availability of food from all over the world has negative implication. Whereas, I believe that it is, on the whole, a positive development because it contributes to greater consumer choices, economic growth, and cultural exchange.
On the one hand, access to food globally provides with more variety of food choices to the consumers, rather than simply relying on local produce. Consequently, people are more likely to develop different tastes and try many international cusisines while being in their home country. For instance, the import of some tropical fruits and other spices plays a significant role in developing consumer's preferences over international foods. In addition, the transfer of food from one country to another contributes to global cultural exchange. People gets the opportunity to experience different flavors of food often not available domestically. Hence, countries often develop frindly terms.
Moreover, the import and export of fruits, vegetables, spices, and other condiments improves the overall economy of a country by providing employment opportunities to many individuals. A good example of this is the import of sub-tropical fruits to temperate regions, which eventually boosts the economy of the country exporting fruits.
On the other hand, while there are far more positive outcomes of global food exchange, there are also certain drawbacks. Continuous exchange of food often require a huge amount of capital for the shipment. However, the transport is frequently carried out through airlines, trucks or ships. As a result, they contribute to the global carbon footprint by releasing greenhouse gases and polluting the environment.
To sum up, although there are a few negative impacts, positive developments outweighs them. However, a balance is often essential between import and export.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: you consider worldwide food availability positive overall, while acknowledging environmental costs. You address both sides and give relevant examples, including tropical fruit imports and transport emissions. The points about consumer choice and cultural exchange are understandable, but some support remains general: the claim that countries develop “friendly terms” is not explained, and the economic benefit is illustrated mainly from the exporting country’s perspective. To strengthen the response, explain more fully how these effects arise and connect each example directly to your argument. The response covers the task well overall, but the ideas are not yet consistently extended and supported with the detail needed for a more complete discussion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, the body paragraphs present benefits and a drawback, and the conclusion restates your position. Linking expressions such as “On the one hand,” “Moreover,” and “To sum up” help readers follow the progression. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. “Hence, countries often develop friendly terms” does not clearly follow from the preceding point about food experiences, and “On the other hand” introduces a contrast after two benefit paragraphs without a particularly smooth transition. The conclusion’s call for “a balance” is also not developed earlier. Make relationships between claims explicit and use referencing and transitions more precisely to improve the flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “consumer choices,” “cultural exchange,” “employment opportunities,” and “greenhouse gases.” These choices allow you to discuss both benefits and costs, and you attempt some less common expressions such as “global carbon footprint.” However, several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors reduce precision: “cusisines” is misspelled, “developing consumer’s preferences” is awkward, and “friendly terms” is not a natural expression for relations between countries. “Sub-tropical” is also less suitable than the standard form “subtropical.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations of words and proofread spelling; this will make your vocabulary more precise without requiring unnecessarily complex terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a concessive opening (“Whereas, I believe…”) and a cause-and-effect sentence beginning “As a result.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in agreement, sentence construction, and punctuation. For example, “provides with more variety” is missing a clear object, “People gets” should have a plural verb, and “exchange … require” needs singular agreement. In “positive developments outweighs them,” the plural subject also requires a plural verb. The opening “Whereas, I believe” is punctuated awkwardly because “whereas” does not form a complete sentence there. Review subject–verb agreement and clause boundaries, while continuing to use varied sentence structures.
