Student answer (Band 5.0)

In many nations nowadays, costumer can go to supermarket and take food items all over the world. in my opinion it is a positive development because it can provide significant benefits and this will be explained with relevant examples in the upcoming paragraphs.

To begin with, in many developed countries customer go to supermarket and take anything that they want because everything is available there. it is a positive development because if the thing that needs to person and they gate it easily. however, it is taking less time to go different shop or market. in many countries it is not available, so people need to go another city to take the food product, and it is taking more time.

On the other hand, this development has many negative disadvantages. it is effect on the small roadside businessman and small market for this development many people lost their jobs or business, and they have no other jobs or business, so it is affect negatively.

to conclude, this development has so many advantage and disadvantages but advantages out way the disadvantages and it has positive development.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You state a clear overall view in the introduction and conclusion: access to international food is a positive development, despite disadvantages for small businesses. You also give relevant points about convenience and possible job losses. However, the response addresses the topic only partially: the benefits are explained mainly as easier access and saving time, while the effect on small businesses is asserted rather than supported with an example or explanation. The phrase “advantages out way the disadvantages” signals a judgement, but the conclusion does not summarise why the benefits outweigh the costs. The response is also 65 words below the required minimum, leaving too little space to develop the ideas. Extend each main point with a specific example and clearer reasoning.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for benefits and drawbacks, and a conclusion. This makes the main direction easy to identify. Basic signposting such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand,” and “to conclude” helps mark the stages. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven: the first body paragraph moves from availability to convenience and then to travel between cities without clearly connecting these points. Some links are also mechanical or unclear, as in “because if the thing that needs to person and they gate it easily.” Develop one central idea at a time, use pronouns with clear references, and connect each example explicitly to your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the general argument, including “supermarket,” “food product,” “small market,” and “lost their jobs.” There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “positive development” and “relevant examples.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “take food items” is not natural for buying groceries, “negative disadvantages” is repetitive, and “it is effect on” does not express the intended impact clearly. Spelling and word-form errors such as “costumer,” “gate,” and “out way” also reduce precision. Build a wider set of accurate phrases for access, convenience, and effects on local businesses.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple sentences and longer clauses, including a reason clause with “because” and a contrast introduced by “however.” This shows some effort to vary sentence forms. However, the range remains limited, and frequent errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and verb forms sometimes obscure meaning. For instance, “customer go to supermarket” lacks appropriate plural or article forms and subject–verb agreement, while “it is taking less time to go different shop” has an unclear structure and missing grammatical elements. Several sentences also begin with lowercase letters, and punctuation between ideas is often weak. Practise building accurate subject–verb sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses using “because,” “although,” and “which.”
