Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You give a clear overall preference in the final paragraph, saying supermarket shopping is convenient and “a good development.” However, the position is not established clearly at the start: the introduction says there are “positive and negative” aspects without indicating which view you support. Much of the discussion focuses on supermarket layouts, consumer behaviour and buying unwanted products, rather than directly explaining the benefits or drawbacks of access to food produced around the world. The point about limited options for cheap products could be relevant, but it is not explained or supported. To strengthen the response, state your position clearly in the introduction and develop two relevant reasons with specific examples about global food availability.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is an attempt to organise the response into an introduction, a main discussion and a conclusion, and linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “For instance” and “On the other hand” show an effort to connect ideas. However, the progression is difficult to follow: the discussion moves from digital platforms to supermarket shelves, consumer research, impulse buying and then limited access to cheap products, without a clear sequence or focused paragraph structure. Some links also do not express the relationship between ideas accurately, and the long example is hard to track. Organise each body paragraph around one main reason, use clear topic sentences, and make sure each example directly supports that reason. This will make the overall argument easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “consumer behaviour,” “customer retention,” “convenient” and “deliveries,” and some wording communicates relevant ideas. However, inaccurate word choice, spelling and collocation are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning unclear. Examples include “supermarket method,” “this purspective,” “more brands option” and “regular item”; several expressions do not sound natural in context. There is also repetition of “supermarket” and “people,” which limits flexibility. Build a more precise set of phrases for discussing international food availability, such as “imported produce,” “wider choice” and “year-round access,” and check spelling and collocations when editing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt some longer sentences and subordinate clauses, for example the sentence beginning “For instance, a person who wants to buy grocery for their home,” but control is inconsistent. Errors in sentence formation, agreement, articles and verb forms occur frequently, as in “supermarket have,” “Many surveys has to be done” and “this allow consumer not have.” Several sentences also run together or lack clear punctuation, which makes relationships between ideas difficult to understand. Simple sentence patterns are more successful, but the range is limited by the faulty complex constructions. Practise building accurate sentences first, then combine them using clauses such as “because” and “although”; carefully check subject–verb agreement and sentence boundaries.
