Student answer (Band 5.0)
People say that consumers can go to a supermarket and buy food produced all over the world in many countries I think this helps to make food supply meet and from my standpoint it is a positive development in this essay I will tell you my reasons.
Supermarket helps to market the food products and this can make it more conscientious for people who are living far from the market for example those people living inside the village that are not mobile to go to the main markets they can just easily purchase items from near by supermarket as this can save them the time and energy which they need.
Also, another reason why consumers can purchase from supermarkets is that most of the items they sell are not perishable items they are imported goods shipped from overseas and this items can sometimes be scarce in the market but with the help of the supermarket goods can easily reach the mass. Supermarket is mostly know for its variety of goods they supply for example shop-rites, spar, and all this big shopping malls they sell goods that are canned and they are not commonly available in local stores.
In addition, goods marketed by the supermarkets are usually not Nigeria made so people love to buy from overseas so the demand is usually so high and the high the demand the high the sell .
To conclude, supermarkets helps individuals of different countries to easily buy the products especially people living in rural areas as this can be the effective way they can get them and I think this is a positive development from my own perspective.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You state a clear overall view: “I think this is a positive development,” and the conclusion repeats that position. The points about convenience for people in villages and access to imported goods are relevant to international food availability. However, the response only partially develops the task: it focuses mainly on supermarkets and access, rather than explaining the wider effects of being able to buy food from around the world. The claim that supermarket goods are “usually not Nigeria made” and that demand is high is asserted without a clear example or explanation of its significance. Develop two or three distinct reasons, support each with a specific example, and explain how each supports your positive view. The response meets the stated length requirement; the 14 words copied from the prompt are excluded from the count.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has an introduction, separate supporting paragraphs and a conclusion, and signposts such as “Also,” “In addition” and “To conclude” make the broad structure visible. However, progression between ideas is limited: the second and third body paragraphs both discuss supermarket goods, and the link between imported products, scarcity and high demand is not made clear. Some connections are also awkward or repetitive, such as “Also, another reason,” while the opening sentence combines the topic, opinion and essay plan without clear separation. Organise each body paragraph around one distinct reason, then explain it in a logical sequence. Use linking expressions selectively and make references such as “this” and “they” clearly identify the idea or goods being discussed.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “consumers,” “perishable,” “imported goods,” “overseas” and “demand.” This gives you a basic range for discussing food supply and shopping. However, vocabulary is often repetitive or imprecise, particularly repeated uses of “goods,” “supermarket” and “buy.” Several choices make the meaning less natural, such as “make it more conscientious” for convenience, “market the food products,” and “the high the demand the high the sell.” Spelling and word-form errors, including “know” for “known” and “near by,” also affect accuracy. Build a wider set of precise topic collocations and check that each word expresses the intended meaning; for example, distinguish between selling, supplying and distributing products.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some longer sentences using clauses introduced by “for example,” “as” and “that,” but these structures are often faulty, and sentence boundaries are not consistently controlled. The opening is a run-on sentence, while “this items can sometimes be scarce” has a number-agreement error. There are also recurring problems with subject–verb agreement and articles, as in “Supermarket helps” and “Supermarket is mostly know,” and the final paragraph has “supermarkets helps.” These errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Practise separating complete ideas with full stops, and check singular and plural subjects against their verbs. Use simpler, accurate sentence patterns first, then add subordinate clauses and varied structures.
