Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You give a clear overall view that access to international food is positive, and you offer relevant points about consumer choice, price comparison, trade and economic effects. The examples of supermarkets in Dubai and Saudi Arabia and Thailand’s seafood exports help connect the discussion to real contexts. However, the response addresses the question only partially because several claims are difficult to interpret or are not clearly linked to whether worldwide food availability is positive or negative. For instance, the point about local manufacturers struggling to balance supply and demand is introduced as a drawback but not weighed against your positive position. Develop two or three central reasons more fully, explain their effects on consumers or communities, and make the evaluation consistent throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the ideas are broadly grouped: consumer benefits appear first, followed by trade and supply. Linking expressions such as “Also,” “Moreover” and “For example” show an attempt to guide the reader. However, progression within paragraphs is often unclear, and some connections are mechanical or incomplete. The shift from supermarket discounts to a supply chain for non-agricultural countries, for example, is not explained. The contrast signalled by “On the other hand” is also not developed into a clear counterargument. Use topic sentences that state each paragraph’s main point, then explain and illustrate it in a logical sequence. Ensure each linking phrase accurately reflects the relationship between the ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “international and local brands,” “frozen foods,” “exports” and “ecosystem,” and you try to discuss economic and environmental effects. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word choices are frequent enough to make parts of the response difficult to understand, as in “conveint,” “effoertelss,” “graments,” “bamace” and “balmave.” Some combinations are also unnatural or unclear, such as “taking entire market” and “boost econonoly and intenal affairs.” This limits the precision and control expected for a wider vocabulary range. Prioritise accurate spelling and common collocations before using more ambitious terms, and check that each word expresses the intended meaning in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a sentence beginning “Moreover, it creates the stage…” and a contrast introduced by “On the other hand.” However, control is inconsistent, and faulty sentence construction sometimes obscures meaning. For example, “Smart stores are increasingly taking entire market of food…, this is consequently…” joins two independent clauses with a comma. In “the development of urbanization create,” the subject and verb do not agree, while “the key benefit … is that it provides access” shifts from plural stores to a singular pronoun. Articles and sentence patterns are also often missing or incomplete. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences, then add subordinate clauses and check agreement, articles and punctuation.
