Student answer (Band 6.0)
In my parts of the world, buyers can now visit a superstore and easily purchase a variety of eatable products which are sourced from all around the world. I strongly agree with this view that it is a beneficial development because of the accessibility, time saving, and cost effectiveness it brings. However, it has some downsides which should be considered as well, such as, it's negative impact on various cultures, tourism, and economy of various countries.
The Major reason for this being the accessibility it brings to an individual's life. The liberty of getting everything at one place has positively impacted the lives for many. For instance, if a person wishes to have an authentic Italian pizza, he can now buy a frozen replica of it at his nearest megastore. Furthermore, it has saved a lot of time and the travelling cost as well, such as, people used to travel to Dubai just to have it's famous Baklava, now it's readily available at many stores all around the world which has saved cost.
Nevertheless, getting anything you want at a supermarket has some drawbacks as well, such as its negative effect on the different cultures of the world. In the past, people used to travel to different nations for it's main attraction, the food. Research suggests that many people only traveled to France for its famous Chocolate Bagel, however, it is now available at different megastores around the world, which has made a negative impact on France's economy due to the declining rate of tourism.
In conclusion, apart from it's downsides, buyers having the liberty of getting everything at one place has made their lives accessible and saved alot of money too. For this reason, I strongly believe that it is a very positive development.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: you consider worldwide supermarket access beneficial, while acknowledging cultural and economic drawbacks. You address both sides and give relevant examples, including frozen Italian pizza and food associated with Dubai. This meets the task well, but the supporting ideas are not equally convincing or fully developed. In particular, the claim that food availability reduces tourism and harms France’s economy relies on a broad assertion about people travelling only for a “Chocolate Bagel,” without explaining how significant this effect might be. The benefits also focus mainly on convenience and cost, with limited explanation of their wider importance. Develop each main reason with a clearer explanation and a more credible, specific example to make the argument more fully supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on benefits, a paragraph on drawbacks, and a conclusion that restates your view. Linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “Nevertheless,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the main direction. However, some connections feel mechanical or unclear. The opening of the second paragraph, “The Major reason for this being…,” is a sentence fragment, and “such as” is used awkwardly to introduce explanations in the first body paragraph. The conclusion also repeats the idea of getting everything in one place rather than drawing together the argument’s main points. Use complete topic sentences, make the relationship between examples and claims explicit, and vary referencing to improve the flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “accessibility,” “cost effectiveness,” “drawbacks,” and “declining rate of tourism.” These choices communicate your main ideas, and you attempt some less common expressions. At times, however, word choice and collocation are inaccurate or unnatural: “eatable products” is less idiomatic than “food products,” “a frozen replica” is an odd description of pizza, and “made their lives accessible” does not express the intended benefit naturally. There are also inconsistent choices such as “superstore,” “megastore,” and “supermarket” for the same setting. Aim for precise, natural collocations and avoid using elevated-sounding words where a simpler, more accurate phrase would be clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “because,” “if,” and “which,” and your meaning is generally understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, however. “The Major reason for this being…” is a fragment rather than a complete sentence, while “the lives for many” has an incorrect grammatical pattern. In “people used to travel to Dubai … now it’s readily available,” the two clauses need clearer punctuation or a conjunction. Apostrophes are also used incorrectly in possessives such as “it’s famous Baklava” and “France’s economy” is correct, but “it's negative impact” should be “its negative impact.” Improve sentence completeness, clause joining, and possessive forms while continuing to use complex structures.
