Student answer (Band 6.0)

Developments in the transportation sources results in the varities of products available at the supermarkets. In majority of countries these days coustmers have access to purchase the wide range of edibles comming from different countries. This assay will analyze the pluses and minuses of the development. I, personally argue that the former is far greater than the latter.

One of the major reasons is that food across the world travels to many countries which help them to gain their economic status. As, it increases the foot step in order to purchase the local products. This makes sure that the large kinds of food is available at the supermarkets. Furthermore, availabilty of food grown in other countries may give us variety of nutritions to consume which our country lacks the most. It helps us to maintain a balanced diet, so as to keep ourself healthy and fit. For instance, people across the world are able to consume strawberry grown in australia which are high source of vitamin C, this was only possible after the intoduction of international food in the supermarkets.

Conversely, this development sometimes increases the overall price of the product, as a result it may not reach the needy people. This will rather focous only on the upper class familes with higher quality of products. Moreover, this can largely effect the earning of the farmers who cultivate the crop as it limits them to sell their products in the local markets with great margins, rather they are supressed by the authorities to lend them in particular wages to the international vendors. For example, If saffron is exported to the other countries like australia, it is possible that some brokers make agreement with the farmer far before the harvesting of strands, this makes them to get less margin of profit on their yeild. This shows that the trend may sometimes adversely impact certain people.

In conclusion, this is a positive development as it has two key reasons such as, its shows surge in the economic growth of the country and provides large options for the varities of food to consume. However, it also have some negative aspects like, increased price range and less profit to the cultivators. In my opnion, its benifical values are greater making it a positive trend. With sustainable practices it can balance its drawbacks making significant development.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

Your position is clear from the introduction—“the former is far greater than the latter”—and remains consistent in the conclusion. You address both sides of the question, explaining benefits through wider food choice, nutrition and economic activity, and drawbacks through higher prices and possible effects on farmers. The strawberry and saffron examples help make these points more concrete. This is a well-focused response with ideas extended and supported. To strengthen it further, avoid broad or unclear claims, such as saying imported food “increases the foot step” in purchasing local products; explain the economic link more precisely. The point about farmers being “supressed by the authorities” also needs clearer support or qualification.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion that restates your view. Transitions such as “Furthermore,” “Conversely,” and “In conclusion” make the direction of the argument easy to follow, and the examples are placed alongside the relevant points. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some of the flexibility associated with stronger cohesion. However, some links are mechanical or unclear: “As, it increases…” does not connect smoothly to the preceding sentence, and “This” in “This makes sure…” has an uncertain reference. Improve progression by making each paragraph’s main claim explicit and using pronouns only when their reference is unmistakable.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt topic-related vocabulary, including “balanced diet,” “economic growth,” “cultivators,” and “sustainable practices,” and you use some variety rather than relying entirely on basic words. However, the range is limited by frequent spelling errors and inaccurate word choice or collocation, which can make meaning harder to follow. Examples include “varities,” “coustmers,” “edibles,” “foot step,” and “less margin of profit”; several intended meanings are understandable, but the phrasing is not natural or precise. Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common word partnerships, such as “a wider range of food,” “boost local sales,” and “reduce farmers’ profit margins.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “which,” “as,” and “so as to,” and the overall argument can generally be understood. However, complex constructions are often faulty, and errors in agreement, articles, sentence boundaries and punctuation occur frequently enough to cause some difficulty. For example, “food … travels … which help them” has a mismatch between the singular subject and verb, while “this development … increases … as a result it may not reach” needs clearer punctuation between clauses. “It also have some negative aspects” also shows incorrect subject–verb agreement. Practise building accurate sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check agreement and punctuation.
