Student answer (Band 5.0)
In many countries, it is easy for people to access food of foreign countries in the supermarket. consumers can get all type of food through a single supermarket. In my personal opinion it is a positive development for the most of the cases. This essay will discuss it in detail,
To begin with the positive development, it has many advantages to all people, consumer can easily access to a variety food with not additional struggle and charges. people just go to the nearest supermarket and can busy all of that things. people are not bounded only to limited food. For example, instead of eating national food each time then you will have options to eat many varieties of food. which has direct result that people can experience food of many countries.
on the other hand, it has many negative effects on the local people and specially the local food producers. Buiseness of most of the local producers are only limited to local people and have no international export. For instance, they are mostly selling it in street with local people. so this trend has a direct impact on such type of local producers. instead of buying local product people will have many options to buy international products.
In conclusion, It has many merits such as variety and availability, but it has also some de merits like local people can face economic crisis. In my personal perspective, it is a positive development for the future.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You give a clear overall view that access to international food is positive, and you acknowledge a counterargument about local producers. The examples of choosing food from different countries and local sellers relying on nearby customers are relevant. However, the discussion is only partly developed: the benefits are mainly described as variety and convenience, while the effect on local producers is asserted rather than explained in depth. The conclusion mentions a possible “economic crisis” but does not show how this would arise. The response also falls short of the required 250 words, which limits the space available to develop your reasons. To strengthen the response, explain the consequences of each point and support them with a more specific example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph on benefits, a contrasting paragraph on drawbacks, and a conclusion. This helps the reader follow the broad direction of your argument. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven, and several links are mechanical or unclear. For example, “To begin with the positive development” and “on the other hand” signal sections, but the ideas that follow are not always connected smoothly. The sentence beginning “For example” is followed by a fragment, “which has direct result…”, and the repeated use of “people” makes the flow less controlled. Use complete sentences, clearer references, and linking phrases that show cause and effect, rather than relying mainly on basic transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “supermarket,” “local producers,” “varieties of food,” and “international products.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning less clear. Examples include “access food of foreign countries,” “busy all of that things,” and “not additional struggle and charges.” Spelling and word-form errors such as “Buiseness” and “de merits” also reduce accuracy. Aim to learn natural phrases for this topic, such as “imported food,” “a wider selection,” and “local businesses,” and check spelling and word forms during revision. More precise vocabulary would help you explain your points without repeating general terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the overall meaning is usually understandable. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and punctuation. For example, “consumer can easily access to a variety food” has problems with the singular noun and sentence pattern, while “people just go … and can busy” contains an incorrect verb form. The fragment “which has direct result…” also shows difficulty joining clauses accurately. Capitalisation after full stops is inconsistent, and some sentences run together or are punctuated unclearly. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then combine them with clauses using “because,” “which,” or “although.” Proofreading for complete sentences and agreement will improve clarity.
