Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays, consumers can go to a supermarket and buy food produced all over the world in many countries. In my opinion, this is a positive development because it helps to strong the economy and financial instability of country.
To begin with, The main advantage is that consumers have more varieties and choices. People can enjoy fruits, vegetables and other product that are not available in their own country. For example, In pakistan we can buy Kiwis and olive oil from other countries in the supermarket. It not only improves our diet but give us chance to experience different culture and cuisines. when food is exported, farmers and producers in developing countries have chance to boost-up their businesses and earn more money to improve the economy.
Moreover, there are some negative aspect as well. Firstly, importing food from far away increases transportation and envoirmental issues like air pollution. Secondly, it were delivered too late at the market although it might not be freshed. For example, Transporting a food from one country to another it took a long time because farmer make a proper plan. On other side, It might be harmful for us because farmer take a chemical spray on it due to maxmize their life. Most of the countries couldn't wash their food before eating that why chemical were harmful for us.
In the conclusion, although importing food from all over the world has some disadvantages for the envoirment but i think the benefits of greater choices, better diet, and economic growth outweigh them. Therefore, it is positive development overall,

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you consider worldwide food availability positive, mainly because it offers more choice, can improve diets, and supports economic growth. You also acknowledge environmental and food-safety concerns, so the response addresses both sides of the question. However, several points are only briefly explained. For instance, the claim that exports help farmers is not supported with a specific explanation of how this benefits economies, while the discussion of chemical sprays is difficult to follow and not clearly linked to imported food. The response contains 245 words, five below the required minimum; the 15 words copied from the task prompt are excluded. Develop your examples and explain the main effects more clearly to address the task more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph on benefits, a paragraph on drawbacks, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “To begin with,” “Moreover,” and “In the conclusion” helps readers identify the sections. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven, and some links between ideas are unclear. The sequence from transport delays to chemical sprays and then to washing food is hard to follow, particularly in “On other side.” Some transitions are also mechanical, and the conclusion repeats the main benefits without drawing the discussion together in much detail. Organise each body paragraph around one main point, then explain and illustrate it before moving to the next point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “consumers,” “transportation,” “air pollution,” “cuisines,” and “economic growth.” These choices show an attempt to discuss both the benefits and costs of international food trade. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or collocations make parts of the argument difficult to understand. Examples include “strong the economy,” “financial instability of country,” “freshed,” and “maxmize their life.” There are also spelling errors such as “envoirmental” and “maxmize.” Aim for precise, natural phrases and check spelling carefully; this will make your meaning clearer and help you express the ideas with greater flexibility.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast clause in “although importing food … has some disadvantages” and a reason clause beginning “because.” However, errors are frequent, and some sentences are difficult to interpret. For example, “it helps to strong the economy” has an incorrect verb pattern, while “it were delivered too late” has faulty subject–verb agreement and tense. In “Transporting a food from one country to another it took a long time,” the sentence structure is incomplete or duplicated. Articles, plurals, and agreement also need attention, as in “other product” and “it not only improves … but give us.” Practise building accurate sentences before adding more complex clauses.
