Student answer (Band 6.5)

Imported foods are easily available in the market these days. People can buy fresh food that is produced in other countries. I strongly believe that easy access to several international food items is a positive development as people can get nutritional advantages of various food items around the globe and it has also provided us employment opportunities.

First and foremost, the advancement in the world has provided us access to variety of fruits and vegetables. These fruits and vegetables have a lot of nutrients and people can enjoy them in their home country without much efforts. These foods are also a cure of a lot diseases and provide many health benefits. For example, The juice of Papaya, which is not grown in all the countries, is considered to be beneficial for the patients of Dengue fever and due to the modern development people can buy them from local markets anywhere in the world.

Furthermore, there is another advanctage that is it has provided a lot of job opportunities. The transportation of food items require a lot of of workforce. There are many steps involved in it such as preservation to maintain the quality, packaging, loading and transporting. As a result, it has developed a source of income for people around the world. Additionally, it has improved international relationships among countries and is good for the economy of a country bacause international revenue is generated by selling food to other countries. For instance, the basmati rice, that is produced in Pakistan, is exported all over the world which boost the economy of the country.

To conclude, the world is advancing rapidly and providing food of all kind to anywhere in the world is undoubtedly a beneficial development. I firmly believe that it should be strongly promoted and all the countries should take part in this productive development.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

Your position is clear from the introduction to the conclusion: you consider worldwide access to food a positive development. You address the question with two relevant reasons—nutritional benefits and employment/economic gains—and support them with examples such as papaya juice and Pakistani basmati rice. This gives the response a clear, relevant argument. However, some claims are broad or not fully explained: for example, saying imported foods are “a cure of a lot diseases” needs qualification and clearer support, and the link between food imports and international relationships is asserted rather than developed. Explain the mechanisms and limits of each benefit more precisely, and ensure examples directly substantiate the point being made, to make the discussion more fully developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The essay has a clear overall progression: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present separate reasons, and the conclusion restates your position. Paragraphing is appropriate, and signposts such as “First and foremost,” “Furthermore,” and “To conclude” help readers follow the argument. Within the second body paragraph, however, several related but distinct claims—jobs, international relationships, and national revenue—are packed together, so the progression becomes less focused. Some links are also mechanical, particularly the repeated use of “Additionally” and “As a result.” Organise each paragraph around one main claim, then explain and illustrate it before moving on; use referencing and transitions that show the precise relationship between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to discuss food, health, trade, and employment, including terms such as “nutrients,” “preservation,” “workforce,” and “international revenue.” This range communicates your main points, but word choice and collocation are often imprecise or repetitive, which limits flexibility. Examples include “access to variety of fruits,” “a cure of a lot diseases,” and “provided a lot of job opportunities”; more natural phrasing would be “access to a variety,” “may help treat certain illnesses,” and “created many jobs.” There are also spelling errors, including “advanc(t)age” and “bacause,” and some repeated general words such as “food” and “people.” Build accuracy by checking collocations, spelling, and more specific alternatives.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a reason clause in “as people can get nutritional advantages” and a relative clause describing papaya. Most sentences remain understandable, and errors do not generally prevent the reader from following your argument. Some grammatical problems persist, however: “without much efforts” has an incorrect plural, “a lot diseases” is missing “of,” and “The transportation of food items require” has subject–verb disagreement. In “the basmati rice … which boost the economy,” the verb also needs to agree with the singular subject. Review articles, countable and uncountable nouns, and agreement, then proofread longer sentences to ensure each clause is grammatically complete.
