Student answer (Band 5.5)
The growing popularity of supermarkets having different kinds of food avaliavble which has been produced around the world, questions the quality of food while being enjoyed by the consumers. This essay will discuss the positive and negative veiws of this development.
In recent years, many countries like to import fruits and vegetables from other parts of the world to give different exposure to its people. Most critics aurgues that the imported food can not be good for health as it must contains several preservatives to keep the food fresh untill it reaches the supermarket. Moreover paying high taxes and eating overpriced fruit is not good for the economy as majority can not afford it. Ultimately that highly expensive food will rot at the supermarket counter.
On the other hand, most of the people enjoy different kinds of fruit and aim to buy it more frequently as per their liking. Now they don't have to wait for a specific season to have their favourite fruit or vegetable as it will be avaliable on supermarket counters all year round. Furthermore people like to have different experience of food from another parts of the world. They can enjoy dragon fruit from Mexico while let them enjoy mangos from Pakistan.
In my opinion, having different kinds of food produced all over the world in local supermarkets is a positive development. Despite higher prices of imported food, people still like to enjoy and gain nutritional values from it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both sides of the issue and state a clear view in the final paragraph: you consider worldwide food availability positive despite higher prices. The points about preservatives, affordability, year-round access and trying foods from other countries are relevant. However, the discussion is brief and some ideas are asserted rather than explained—for example, the claim that imported food will “rot at the supermarket counter” needs a clearer link to its effect on the economy. Your examples of dragon fruit and mangoes help illustrate variety, but the benefits and drawbacks are not developed to the same depth. The response is also 7 words below the required minimum, so it needs a little more relevant explanation and support.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph presenting concerns, a paragraph describing benefits, and a concluding opinion. The contrast between the two main body paragraphs is easy to follow, and signposts such as “Moreover,” “On the other hand,” and “In my opinion” help guide the reader. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes abrupt. The move from high import taxes to food rotting on supermarket counters, for instance, is not fully explained, and the conclusion mostly repeats the position rather than drawing the discussion together. Some linking phrases feel mechanical, and clearer connections between each claim and its consequence would make the argument flow more smoothly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “preservatives,” “nutritional values,” “overpriced,” and “all year round,” which allows you to discuss both costs and consumer choice. There are also attempts at more specific examples, such as “dragon fruit” and “mangos.” However, spelling errors are noticeable, including “avaliavble,” “veiws,” “aurgues,” and “untill,” and some word choices or collocations are awkward. For example, “different exposure to its people” does not naturally express the idea of introducing consumers to new foods, while “different experience of food” is imprecise. More accurate collocations and careful proofreading would make your meaning clearer and more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple statements and some attempts at longer structures, such as “Now they don't have to wait for a specific season … as it will be available…” This gives the response some variety, and the main ideas are generally understandable. However, several sentence patterns contain grammatical errors. In “The growing popularity … questions the quality,” the opening construction is awkwardly formed, and “it must contains” should use the base verb after “must.” There are also agreement and article problems in “as majority can not afford it,” and the sentence beginning “They can enjoy dragon fruit … while let them enjoy mangos” is not grammatically parallel. Work on clause construction, modal verbs, and agreement while retaining your attempts at complex sentences.
