Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent times, there has been a global trend evident that consumers can purchase all the types of food from the supermarket which are available all over the world. It is certainly a positive development which marks the development of trade between the countries owing to meet requirement of people which increase the business and economy of the country .

To begin with, availability of different food items marks the significant development of trade between countries. The main reason is that in this contemporary society, it is prevalent that most of the people travel to distant countries in search of food items. This practice among the individuals demand the requirement of commodities inevitable for the preparation of particular food item. Thus goverment should import such item for the production of various food items. Availability of such food items in our countries help those people to purchase it according to their need. Moreover, this elevates the business economy of the country through significant purchase of such food items other than conventional foods by the people.

For instance, in my experience I have a friend who always travels to the UAE from 2020 for having flavorr5ful Chicken Mandhi, which is a famous cusine widely available in Arab countries. Recently, this particular food item introduced in our country. Moreover, he is spending all his money for frequently purchasing chicken mandhi. Overall the production of this food increased in my country. The prime catalyst for this is the demand of this particular food item rise among the people which lead to large scale production.

Alongside, the importing of products for the prepartion including vessels, spices and special flavours are importing from other countries marking the development in trade which generates a profound impact in the growth of business and economy of our country.

In conclusion, such an availability of food in supermarket is a positive development which meets the demand of people, increase economy, business and trade.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear from the introduction and conclusion: you consider worldwide food availability positive because it meets consumer demand and supports trade and the economy. The example of your friend and chicken mandhi gives the argument a relevant, personal illustration. However, the response addresses the issue only partially because it focuses mainly on trade and business, with limited explanation of other possible benefits or drawbacks of access to international food. Some reasoning is also unclear: the claim that people travel abroad “in search of food items” does not clearly explain why supermarkets importing food is beneficial, and the example’s link between one person’s purchases and large-scale production is asserted rather than demonstrated. Develop fewer points more fully and make each example directly support your position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, supporting paragraphs, and a conclusion, and the reader can follow the overall positive position. Paragraphing also separates the general trade argument from the personal example. However, progression within the body is sometimes unclear: the discussion moves from people travelling abroad, to government imports, to local business growth without fully explaining the links. Connectors such as “Moreover,” “Thus,” and “Overall” are used, but some feel mechanical or do not accurately signal the relationship between ideas. The final body paragraph about imported vessels and spices introduces another point without developing it or clearly connecting it to the earlier example. Use clearer topic sentences and explicit cause-and-effect links to make the argument flow more naturally.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “availability,” “contemporary society,” “commodities,” “demand,” and “production,” and the main meaning is generally understandable. However, the range is limited by repeated references to “food items,” “development,” and “country,” while several word choices or collocations sound unnatural, such as “elevates the business economy,” “meets the demand,” and “the demand … rise.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “goverment,” “cusine,” and “prepartion,” as well as the apparent typo “flavorr5ful.” These reduce precision and sometimes make the reader pause. Aim for more natural combinations such as “boosts the local economy” and check spelling carefully; use precise terms like “imported ingredients” where appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use both simple statements and attempts at longer, complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “which,” “that,” and “owing to.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. For example, “which increase the business and economy” has an unclear subject and incorrect agreement, while “This practice among the individuals demand” also has subject–verb disagreement. The sentence beginning “Alongside, the importing of products…” lacks a clear grammatical structure, and “the demand … rise … which lead” contains errors in verb form and agreement. Punctuation and spacing are also inconsistent, as in “In recent times, there.” Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a clearly attached supporting clause, then check agreement and verb forms.
