Student answer (Band 5.0)

In many countries, consumer can buy the food of their own choice from the supermarket which is produced all over world.

I believe that, people should buy the food they like, as consumer has many choices nowadays this includes buiscuits, chips, chocolate, dry fruits.

People can enjoy wide variety of food, there are many varied foods which coustomers can try, there are healthy foods and non healthy foods. Non healthy foods are those which people eat from street vendors and healthy foods are those which are organically packed by the company. They can buy seasonal fruits and vegetables. For instance people can buy from reliance fresh store which gives fresh vegetables to you. They can also eat different culture foods like in gurudwaras you can eat langar.

On the other hand international food trades gives jobs and benefits the buisness, with the imported food coming in our country over from long distances it can cause pollution which is affecting people health. Imported food is also costly than locally produced food, food produced locally can be bought by anyone but the imported food some people can buy. As it comes outside from india, so it will cost high.

This concludes that, consumer should go to supermarket and enjoy the food which he wants around all over the world and he can also buy imported food he wants but consumer should eat healthy foods, not the unhealthy foods. There should be positive developments of food industry who should produce food according to coustomer preference.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a clear general preference for access to a wide range of food, and you mention relevant benefits such as choice and business opportunities, alongside concerns about pollution and higher prices. However, the response only partly answers the question because the positive or negative judgement is not maintained consistently: the opening supports consumer choice, while the conclusion shifts to advice about eating healthily and what the food industry should produce. Several points are also unclear or insufficiently explained, such as the distinction between “healthy” food and food from street vendors, and the langar example does not clearly illustrate international supermarket products. Develop two or three directly relevant reasons and explain how each supports your overall position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic structure, with an opening, a paragraph presenting benefits, a paragraph beginning “On the other hand,” and a concluding statement. This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, there is no consistent progression from the main claim to supporting explanations, and several ideas are placed together without clear links—for example, seasonal produce, a Reliance Fresh store, and langar appear in the same paragraph. Linking phrases such as “On the other hand” and “This concludes that” are used, but the relationships between ideas are sometimes unclear or mechanical. Organise each body paragraph around one main reason, use examples that directly support it, and make the conclusion restate the same positive or negative position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “imported food,” “locally produced,” “pollution,” “seasonal fruits and vegetables,” and “consumer preference.” This is enough to communicate the general subject, but the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which can make meaning difficult to follow. For example, “food of their own choice” and “food produced all over world” are awkward, while “international food trades gives jobs” does not express the intended idea naturally. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “buisness,” “coustomers,” and “buiscuits.” Build a more precise set of phrases for discussing global food supply, affordability, employment, and environmental effects, and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including “On the other hand international food trades gives jobs and benefits the buisness, with the imported food coming in our country over from long distances it can cause pollution.” However, complex sentences are often faulty or run together, and frequent errors in articles, agreement, plurals, and sentence boundaries sometimes make the message difficult to follow. Examples include “consumer can buy,” “as consumer has many choices,” and “There should be positive developments … who should produce.” Commas are also used where a full stop or a clearer conjunction is needed, as in “People can enjoy wide variety of food, there are many varied foods.” Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and article use, and separate related ideas into complete sentences before attempting longer structures.
