Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is often argue that, in many nations customers can visit market and get food that is made from all over the world. In my opinion it is a positive development because the food is readily available for us so we don't have to travel for getting that food.

For the positive development, it is postive as we do not have to travel across the world to try or to get that food. For example, in United kingdom there are many food courts which offer Pakistani desi foods such as Chicken Karahi and Biryani etc to people who are from Pakistan and are living there for study or work purposes so, they don't have to come to Pakistan to get these types of food. And if anyone want to try the chinese cuisine or the items made in china. They do not have to travel to china to get or try the food like the items are easily accessible.

To some extent, it can be negative also because some items can be expensive due to the shipping costs and also due to the taxes. There is another case that the food might not be as fresh as it was earlier. So, this is also a drawback of getting the required craving around the world. For example, the fruits and vegetable that are from any other country, if these items have to travel for a longer time they will not be fresh as they were before. But some importers have technology to get them as fresh as they were.

In conclusion, this is a positive development because people have much varieties of food which is easily accessible from anywhere around the world. Supermarkets do have these kind of items that people can buy.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you consider worldwide food availability positive, while acknowledging drawbacks. You support the main benefit with the example of Pakistani dishes in the United Kingdom and explain that imported produce may lose freshness; these points are relevant to the question. However, the positive case is developed more fully than the negative side, which is briefly presented and then qualified without explaining how significant the cost or freshness problems are. The examples also focus mainly on access and travel, rather than exploring broader effects such as consumer choice or local producers. To strengthen the response, develop each reason with a clearer explanation of its impact and make the comparison between benefits and drawbacks more explicit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure, moving from an introduction to benefits, drawbacks and a conclusion. Paragraphing helps the reader follow the main points, and examples are generally placed alongside the ideas they support. Some connections, however, feel mechanical or unclear. The opening of the second body paragraph, “For the positive development,” repeats the position rather than smoothly introducing a reason, while “There is another case” does not clearly signal the relationship between the points. The conclusion also repeats the main claim without drawing together the discussion. Use more precise transitions and clearer references, and organise each body paragraph around one main idea followed by explanation and evidence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the topic, including terms such as “shipping costs,” “taxes,” “fresh,” “accessible” and “importers.” There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “Pakistani desi foods” and “Chinese cuisine.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “get food,” “food courts” for places selling supermarket products, and “getting the required craving around the world.” Spelling errors such as “postive” and “vegetable” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more natural topic vocabulary and check word forms and spelling; for example, describe food as “available” or “purchased,” and refer to “satisfying a craving” rather than “getting” one.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and more complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “if these items have to travel for a longer time” and a contrast introduced by “But.” The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction. For instance, “It is often argue” needs a passive form, “if anyone want” has a subject–verb agreement error, and “the fruits and vegetable” has a number mismatch. The sentence beginning “And if anyone want…” is also separated from the preceding thought in a way that weakens sentence control. Review agreement and verb forms, and combine related clauses with accurate punctuation. Greater control of these patterns would make your varied sentence attempts clearer.
