Student answer (Band 6.5)

In recent times, consumers from many countries can purchase food produced all over the world from their nearby supermarkets. In my opinion, it is a very positive development for all the stakeholders related to it.

At present, the counties can't gain sufficient power over all the sectors a countrys people require to live on. As a matter of fact, each country choose their niche and master that skill to produce a specific item so that they can export it to another nation and purchase other items that they can't produce. For example, Germany is excellent at making modern and vintage automobiles in the mean time they lack enough manpower to produce food items. So what they do is, they excel in automobile sector and market trade those to purchase other necessary goods for the citizens.

If consumers only purchase the food produced by their own country they would end up purchasing a much limited number of food items because it is not possible to produce all the foods in the same soil and weather. Each country has specific weather in which specific food items can be farmed. For example, Bangladesh is known for producing rice but it can not grow apples. So they export rice to other countries and imports apples from countries like India.

In conclusion, having foods produced in different parts of the world within your palm is a blessing for the consumers as well as good for world economy. If this system gets hampered by any component it might make the economies fall and damage resources of several countries.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction: you consider worldwide food availability a positive development. You support this with two relevant points—countries specialise in production and consumers gain access to foods that local climates cannot provide—and the examples of Germany and Bangladesh help illustrate these ideas. This addresses the question, but the discussion is unevenly developed. The Germany example focuses on automobiles and manpower rather than directly explaining the benefits of importing food, while the final claim that the system could damage economies is introduced without explanation. To strengthen the response, develop the consumer and economic benefits more directly and clarify how your examples support your position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting related reasons, and a conclusion that restates your view. The progression from international specialisation to climate-based food production is logical, and phrases such as “For example” help signal supporting evidence. However, some connections are not fully clear. The shift from food trade to automobile production in the first body paragraph makes the link to the question less direct, and “If this system gets hampered by any component” is vague, leaving the concluding point difficult to follow. Use more precise references and make each paragraph’s main point explicit before giving its example. This would make the organisation feel more consistently controlled rather than occasionally unclear.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary to discuss trade and food production, including “export,” “specific item,” “weather,” and “farmed.” There are also attempts at more specialised phrasing, such as “master that skill” and “world economy,” though some choices are imprecise or unnatural. For instance, “gain sufficient power over all the sectors” does not clearly express the idea of producing everything a country needs, and “market trade those” is an awkward collocation. Spelling and word-form slips such as “counties” for “countries” and “imports” in “they … imports apples” also affect accuracy. Aim for precise, natural combinations such as “specialise in producing” and “trade these products for.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex forms, including conditional structures (“If consumers only purchase… they would end up…”) and a relative clause (“in which specific food items can be farmed”). Meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors remain. Examples include “each country choose” instead of “each country chooses,” “a countrys people” without a possessive apostrophe, and “they … imports apples,” where the verb does not agree with the subject. The sentence beginning “For example, Germany…” also joins two independent clauses without suitable punctuation or a conjunction. Review subject–verb agreement, possessives, and sentence boundaries, while continuing to use varied sentence structures.
