Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: you consider worldwide supermarket food a negative development, mainly because of cost and health risks. Both points are relevant, and you include examples such as frozen chicken in Pakistan and potato chips. However, the discussion only partly addresses the issue: the cost argument focuses on preserved or processed food, while the prompt concerns food produced around the world, which is not necessarily preserved or unhealthy. The health claims are also broad, and the examples do not clearly show that imported food itself causes these problems. To develop the response further, explain how international availability affects consumers and support each reason with a more directly relevant example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The paragraphs broadly separate cost from health, and signposts such as “In addition” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the main points. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow: the first body paragraph moves from food spoiling to chemicals, factories, transport and advertising without clearly connecting each point to the cost of globally available food. Some linking phrases are awkward or repetitive, and “For example” is followed by a full stop rather than a comma. The conclusion repeats the main concerns but does not clearly synthesise them. Use clearer topic sentences and explain the relationship between each supporting detail and your central argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “preserved food,” “chemicals,” “transportation,” “packaging” and “addictive,” which helps communicate your concerns. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning unclear. For example, “food is damage quickly” and “higher price than fresh” do not express the intended ideas naturally; “dangerous elements” is also vague. Repetition of “harmful,” “health” and “food” further limits precision. Build a more accurate set of phrases for discussing international food supply, affordability and nutrition, and check whether each word fits its context. More precise vocabulary would make your argument easier to understand.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a reason clause in “because it is very expensive” and a conditional structure beginning “when any person will eat them.” However, many sentences contain errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction, which can make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “buying food from a supermarket which is already made” is not a complete, well-formed opening sentence, while “there are many chemicals use” and “A few people buying this product” have faulty verb forms. The conditional “when any person will eat them it becomes his habit” is also awkwardly constructed. Practise building accurate subject–verb sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check punctuation between clauses.
