Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent years , getting any food item from all over the world is very easy because every supermarket keeps these items . Although there are certain disadvantages of it however its really helping large number of people in may ways and i believe its largely a positive development .

To begin with the positive side , people love to cook and eat their own traditional food in another country rather than completely relying on western food because someone can eat local food for one or two days but its really hard to consume that food everyday and they start craving their own traditional dishes . For instance , immigrants living in abroad can't consume that country's food type for whole life so getting their own type food from supermarket is really convenient for them . Secondly it becomes convenient for consumers to get food from one supermarket rather than going to different places because people have limited free time nowdays.

However on the negative side , sometimes supermarkets gets too busier and crowded because of the availabilty of all types of food because everyone try to go their to save time . Moreover , there are more chances of getting expired items which are imported from international countries.

To be conclude , i think getting food from one supermarket is more positive because it is easy and convenient way for everyone as people are really busy with their work schedule .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a clear overall view that this is “largely a positive development” and address both benefits and drawbacks. The examples about immigrants wanting familiar traditional food and shoppers saving time are relevant to the question. However, the positive points are only briefly explained, and the negative points—crowding and the possibility of expired imported food—are asserted without showing how likely or significant they are. The conclusion repeats your position rather than drawing together the reasons. The response is also 8 words below the required minimum, so it does not meet the task’s length requirement. Develop each main idea with a clearer explanation or a specific example, and ensure the response reaches the required length.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph on advantages, a paragraph on disadvantages, and a conclusion. This makes the overall direction easy to follow, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “Secondly,” and “However” help distinguish points. Some connections are mechanical or unclear, though. The opening phrase “Although there are certain disadvantages of it however” uses two contrasting signals together, while “because” is repeated to link several claims. The ideas within the positive paragraph also move quickly from traditional food to convenience without a smooth transition. Use linking phrases more selectively and make the relationship between each claim and its explanation explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “traditional food,” “immigrants,” “convenient,” and “imported items.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “craving their own traditional dishes.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations sound unnatural, including “food type,” “getting their own type food,” and “in abroad.” Spelling and informal forms such as “nowdays,” “availabilty,” and “its” also reduce accuracy. Build a wider set of natural phrases for discussing international food and retail, and check spelling and collocations carefully. For example, “food type” could be replaced with “cuisine” or “traditional dishes.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a concession in the introduction and explanations using “because” and “rather than.” This shows some range, but control is inconsistent, and errors occur often enough to make parts of the response awkward. For example, “supermarkets gets” has subject–verb disagreement, and “everyone try” should use a singular verb. The sentence beginning “Although there are certain disadvantages” is not correctly structured, and several sentences omit or misuse articles and prepositions. Punctuation and capitalisation are also unreliable, particularly around commas and the pronoun “I.” Practise accurate sentence patterns first, then extend them with subordinate clauses; proofread agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries.
