Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both sides of the issue, noting convenience for shoppers and possible harm to local farmers and the national economy. Your conclusion also gives a position: the benefits of supermarkets outweigh the disadvantages. However, the opening says you have a “partial view” and that the change has “both perspective,” so your overall stance is not clear until the conclusion. The supporting ideas are relevant but remain general: the example of visiting separate shops explains convenience, while the claims about farmers’ profits and economic effects need clearer explanation or a specific example. State your position consistently from the introduction and develop each main reason with a more precise explanation.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for benefits and drawbacks, and a conclusion. This gives the reader an overall route through your discussion. You also use linking expressions such as “Firstly,” “Furthermore,” and “To conclude.” However, some transitions feel mechanical, and the progression within paragraphs is not always clear. For example, the final drawback paragraph moves from farmers’ margins to the economy and then ends with the incomplete thought “Moreover by consuming foreign items.” Some references, such as “it” and “that,” are also unclear. Organise each paragraph around one main point, connect explanation directly to that point, and remove or complete unfinished ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “time saving,” “direct purchasing,” “farmers,” and “economy,” and you attempt more formal expressions such as “detrimental effects.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings make the meaning difficult to follow, including “marts,” “engenders,” “sholy,” and “outways.” Repetition of “supermarkets,” “individuals,” and “beneficial” also limits flexibility. Aim for accurate, natural collocations rather than inserting formal-sounding words that do not fit the context. Proofread spelling and choose precise terms for the people and businesses involved, such as “consumers,” “retailers,” and “local producers.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to combine ideas using clauses and connectors, for example, “because mostly all the items in one roof…” and “if people start to shop…,” but complex sentences are often faulty, and the range of reliably controlled structures is limited. Errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction occur throughout: “people are puchaseing,” “there is less margine are availabe,” and “everything that has been stated so far proves that…” The opening also contains punctuation and spacing problems that make it harder to read. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses. Check that each sentence has a clear subject and verb, and review agreement and article use before submitting.
