Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, there is an ongoing debate that in many countries coustemers can go to big markets and puchase any food made by all over the world. Many people think that it is not a good development, while believe that it has so many benefites. The following paragraphes will why I think it is a good invention and also give some examples to support my perspective.

In the beginning, I would like to talk about advantages of supermarkets. One of the main advantage of it is that it will explore cultural food of every country and make awareness about every country. Another benefit is that supermarkets make life easier for individuals. For example, if someone go to a big mall, he can easily buy every thing within a mall he has no need to go to other shops. Because of all these positive thing I preffer to have a supermarket in a city.

Despite from these benefits supermarkets also have some drawbacks if malls are not properally managed. For instance, if the quality of is not accounding to the merit then it will create many problems connected to disease. Furthermore, by creating big markets bussiness for other shopcappers will automatically decline and create poverty. Moreover, these are a few drawbacks of big markets.

In conclusion, the supermarket is a positive development, it also has some disadvantages but advantages are outweight than drawbacks. Supermarkets produse long-term benefits for both individuals and socity if government manages all work under high secourity of management.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you consider worldwide food availability a positive development, while acknowledging possible disadvantages. You address both sides and give relevant points, including exposure to other cultures, convenience, food quality, and effects on small businesses. However, some ideas are only briefly stated or not fully explained. For example, the claim that supermarkets “make awareness about every country” needs a clearer link to how imported foods increase cultural understanding. The health concern is also vague: explain what poor quality might involve and how it could affect consumers. To strengthen the response, develop each main point with a specific explanation or example and connect the conclusion more directly to the reasons supporting your view.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for benefits and drawbacks, and a conclusion. This makes your position and main points reasonably easy to follow. You also use signposting such as “For example,” “Furthermore,” and “In conclusion.” However, some links feel mechanical, and a few references are unclear. In “One of the main advantage of it,” the reader has to infer what “it” refers to, while “Despite from these benefits” does not form a clear transition. The introduction promises to explain why this is a “good invention,” but the body discusses supermarkets more generally rather than consistently focusing on access to food from around the world. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example explicitly to the task.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “cultural food,” “quality,” “disease,” “poverty,” and “drawbacks.” There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “positive development” and “long-term benefits.” However, spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural word combinations are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause. Examples include “coustemers,” “puchase,” “benefites,” and “shopcappers”; “food made by all over the world” is also an awkward way to describe internationally produced food. Some wording is repetitive, particularly “big markets” and “benefits.” Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common collocations, such as “food produced around the world” and “support local businesses.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional clause: “if the quality … then it will create many problems.” Your meaning is generally understandable, but errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and punctuation occur across the response. For example, “while believe that” lacks a subject, “One of the main advantage” has incorrect number agreement, and “if someone go” needs a correctly formed verb. The sentence beginning “For example, if someone…” also joins several ideas without clear punctuation, making its structure difficult to follow. Practise building accurate sentences with subordinate clauses, and check subject–verb agreement, singular/plural forms, and sentence boundaries during revision.
