Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is often argued that in several countries people go to a supermarket to purchase food items throughout the world. I believe this a positive development because this saves a lot of time and creates job opportunities.
On the one hand, purchase food to a supermarket saves a lot of time beause cooking requires to much time and many individuals are living alone in different countries, so they prefer supermarkets food. Although, they spend time on others important things, they spend on cooking. As a result, this helps them to complete their office work and help them doing some physical activities. For example, one of my uncles live in England. Last week I am talking to him and out of no where he told me about their daily routine. He said, instead of cooking at home, I buy food from a supermarket. I utilize this time completing my college assignments.
On the other hand, it creates job opportunities because as more and more people buying food from a supermarket, more workers are required to manage them. However, this creates a chance for poor people who belong to urban areas and for villages. Therefore, they can support their families and live a happy life. If several people are buying food, the government would have to increase the number of supermarkets. This provides benefits to our country and poor people as well. For instant, in my area, all my friends working in supermarket to earn money and this helps them to continue their studies.
In conclusion, consumers can go to a supermarket to buy food, I strongly believe it is a positive development because it saves people time and helps them to do other work. Also it creates new job opportunities for poor people, so they live a happy life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you consider worldwide supermarket food a positive development, mainly because it saves time and creates jobs. Both reasons are relevant, and the examples about your uncle and friends working in a supermarket help make the response personal. However, the discussion only partly addresses the specific development in the prompt: much of the first body paragraph is about buying prepared food and avoiding cooking, rather than the benefits or drawbacks of access to food produced around the world. The job argument is also broad, and the link between international food choices and employment is not fully explained. Develop each point with a clearer connection to the global availability of food and more specific supporting detail.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion that restates your view. This makes the overall direction easy to follow. You also use signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion.” However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “Although, they spend time on others important things, they spend on cooking” does not clearly express the intended contrast, and “However” introduces a point that does not oppose the previous sentence. The examples sometimes interrupt the flow, particularly the sudden shift into reported speech about your uncle. Use linking words according to the relationship between ideas and make each example’s relevance explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough basic vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “job opportunities,” “daily routine,” and “support their families.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make parts of the response awkward or unclear. Examples include “supermarkets food,” “out of no where,” and “For instant”; more natural forms would be “food from supermarkets,” “out of nowhere,” and “For instance.” Repetition of “food,” “time,” and “people” also limits precision. Build a wider set of topic-specific expressions for international food availability, such as “imported produce” and “a wider choice of products,” and check common collocations and spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “because,” “so,” and “if,” which gives the response some structural variety. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make several passages difficult to read. For example, “I believe this a positive development” is missing “is”; “many individuals are living alone” is followed by an unclear sentence about cooking; and “all my friends working in supermarket” lacks a finite verb and an article. Verb forms and tense also need attention: “one of my uncles live” and “Last week I am talking” should be corrected to match the subject and time reference. Practise accurate sentence patterns and review agreement, articles, and past-tense narration.
