Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, people can buy different types of food from supermarket which produced from all over the world. I believe that this a positive development for the economy to make an international trades and also give different options for the indivdulas to buy something from mart.

The primary reason why i believe that its a good for the peoples because it provides peoples with a multiple range of food choices. People are no longer bound to buy products available in their local markets, as they can purchase imported foods from different parts of the world. For example, people living in Pakistan can easily buy Australian fruits and other imported food products. As a result, consumers can enjoy greater variety and have more options when shopping.

Another important reason is that international food trade creates more economic opportunities for different countries. When local farmers of the village and food companies export their products to foreign markets, they can increase their sales and generate higher profits. Furthermore, this trade can create employment opportunities in areas such as agriculture, transportation and packaging. Therefore, international food trade can contribute to economic growth.

In conclusion, I strongly believe that this is a positive development because it gives consumers more food choices and provides economic benefits to farmers and businesses around the world.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction and conclusion: you consider worldwide supermarket food a positive development. You give two relevant reasons—greater consumer choice and economic opportunities—and support them with examples such as Pakistani consumers buying Australian fruit and exporters gaining sales and employment. However, the economic point is explained more fully than the consumer-choice point, which mainly repeats that people have more options without exploring why this matters or giving a further example. The response also contains 216 words, so it does not meet the required minimum of 250. Develop each reason with more specific explanation or evidence, and add a relevant qualification or example to make the discussion more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present separate reasons, and the conclusion restates your position. Linking phrases such as “For example,” “As a result,” “Furthermore,” and “Therefore” help show how ideas relate, and the progression is easy to follow. This meets the lower-band expectations securely and shows some features of stronger organisation. To improve further, make links between claims and their explanations more precise, and avoid relying on formulaic transitions. For instance, the move from imported food to “greater variety” is clear but could be developed with a more specific consequence. Ensure each paragraph has enough explanation to sustain its central point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “imported foods,” “foreign markets,” “generate higher profits,” and “employment opportunities.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and there is some attempt to use topic-specific language. However, the range and control are uneven: phrases such as “international trades,” “a multiple range,” and “different options” are awkward or imprecise, while “peoples” and “indivdulas” show errors in word form or spelling. Repetition of “food,” “people,” and “different” also limits flexibility. Aim for more natural collocations and check spelling carefully; more precise wording will make your argument sound clearer and more academic.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple sentences and some more developed structures, including the clause beginning “When local farmers … export their products” and the sentence with “as they can purchase imported foods.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “food from supermarket which produced” lacks an article and a correctly formed relative clause; “I believe that this a positive development” is missing a verb; and “why i believe that its a good” has errors in sentence construction and punctuation. There are also issues with articles and plural forms in “a multiple range.” Work on complete clause structure, articles, and accurate verb forms, while continuing to use complex sentences with careful proofreading.
