In many countries nowadays, consumers can go to a supermarket and buy food produced all over the world.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

Buying food from supermarkets produced all over the world is beneficial as well as negative at the same time. If we look at forzen chicken, fishes, meat which are stored in freezer or cold storage in supermarket to keep them fresh. However studies have find that these frozen foods are not good for our healths comapre to the fresh meat or fishes.

I do sometimes buy finger chips from the supermarket which are obviously stored in freezer. These food items are quick bites and are ready to cook so consumers do have to do much work to cook them, this is a benifit at the same time that food is not as health as fresh food.

Not only frozen items various eatable things like fruits and vegetables are also available in supermarkets which are tested and then they get listed to sell in supermarkets. These items are safe to eat as they are naturally grown only the down side is sometimes it can be costlier as items are imported from various countries otherwise its good to eat and safe.

some food items like chocolates, different sauces, and spieces are also available and i personally try new chocolates from different different countries. Recently i tried feastable chocolate which is a USA based youtuber's brand. It was very tasty and different from the chocolates which i have tried here in india.

Trying new items from various countries is only possible because of supermarkets as we dont need to go any where else. supermarket is one stop solution for everything because it has from food items to bed items everything over there.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a relevant response by discussing convenience, food safety and health, price, and the chance to try products from other countries. The examples of frozen chips and a chocolate brand make the topic personal and concrete. However, the position is not consistently clear: the opening calls the development both beneficial and negative, while the ending mainly praises supermarkets without weighing the drawbacks. Several claims, such as frozen food being less healthy and imported produce being safe, are asserted rather than explained or supported. To strengthen the response, state clearly whether you consider the overall development positive or negative, then develop two or three reasons with explanation and relevant examples, including a balanced conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response is divided into paragraphs, and each paragraph generally focuses on a related point: frozen food, produce, international products, and supermarket convenience. This gives the reader some organisation. However, the ideas do not build towards a clear overall argument, and the final paragraph introduces the broad claim that supermarkets are a “one stop solution” without connecting it to the earlier concerns about health and cost. Linking phrases such as “However” and “Not only” are attempted, but some transitions are awkward or do not clearly show the relationship between ideas. Improve progression by grouping advantages and disadvantages, using clear topic sentences, and ending with a conclusion that directly answers the question.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “imported,” “stored,” “consumers,” and “available,” and the examples show an attempt to discuss food products specifically. However, the range is limited and several expressions are imprecise or repetitive, such as “food items,” “different different countries,” and “good to eat and safe.” Spelling errors—including “forzen,” “comapre,” “benifit,” and “spieces”—are noticeable and reduce the accuracy of the writing. Some word combinations are also unnatural, for example “do much work to cook them” and “bed items.” Build a wider, more precise vocabulary for discussing nutrition, convenience, cost, and international trade, and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, for example the sentence beginning “Not only frozen items…” and the explanation of why ready-to-cook food is convenient. However, the range is limited, and attempts to combine ideas often contain errors that make the relationships harder to follow. Examples include “studies have find,” “these food items … this food is,” and “consumers do have to do much work,” where verb forms, agreement, or sentence construction need correction. There are also problems with articles and punctuation, particularly in the final paragraph, where sentences begin with lowercase letters and the closing ideas run together. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and verb forms, and separate complex ideas into clearly punctuated sentences.
