Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You state a position—“I thank this is a positive development”—and try to support it with a discussion of food imports and farmers in Pakistan. The example of farmers facing high costs for seeds, fertilisers and water is relevant to food production, but its connection to the benefits or drawbacks of consumers buying international food is not made clear. The response therefore only partially addresses the question: it does not explain in a developed way why access to food from around the world is positive, nor consider a clear disadvantage. The conclusion mentions imported food and consumers, but does not restate a reasoned judgement. To strengthen the response, explain two direct effects on consumers, such as greater choice or year-round availability, and show how your example supports your position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is an attempt to organise the response into an introduction, supporting paragraphs and a conclusion, and words such as “Furthermore,” “Finally” and “In conclusion” signal stages of the discussion. However, the ideas are not arranged in a clear progression: the opening moves between importing food, countries’ production and the writer’s opinion, while the farmer-cost discussion does not clearly connect to the main question. Several sentences repeat the same point about government support and farmers’ difficulties. References such as “them” and “these type of things” also make it hard to identify what is being discussed. Use one paragraph for the position and consumer effects, another for a relevant example, and connect each point explicitly to the question.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The response uses some topic-related vocabulary, including “import,” “export,” “farmers,” “fertilizers,” “crops” and “supermarket,” so the general subject can be recognised. However, the range is basic and repetitive, with “things” and “food” used frequently where more precise terms are needed. Several word choices and collocations are inaccurate, such as “perform a mojor roles,” “sales them in lost” and “good taste our food”; spelling errors including “Futhermore,” “facilites” and “contury” also reduce clarity. Build a more precise set of expressions for the topic, such as “food products,” “consumer choice,” “production costs” and “sell at a loss.” Check spelling and learn common word partnerships as complete phrases.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt to express reasons and consequences, including with clauses such as “Farmers cannot grow them… government not provide proper facilites” and “After harvest them our crops…”. However, sentence structures are very limited and many sentences contain errors that make the relationships between ideas difficult to follow. For example, “Nowadays, all over world maximum countries can import or food” has an unclear clause structure, and “Consumers need these type of things required for good taste our food” lacks a clear grammatical connection between its parts. There are also recurring problems with articles, agreement, verb forms and sentence boundaries. Practise writing clear subject–verb sentences first, then combine related ideas using accurate because, when and if clauses. Review articles and plural forms as well.
