Student answer (Band 5.0)
In this essay i will disscus that in almost every country peope can go to a supermarket and buy food produced all over the world is it a positive or negative development and in the end i will give my opinion.
To begin with, now almost every country has a lot of supermarkets and store where they can buy almost every essential items that they were unable to buy before because back then it was hard to find some international items on local stores as they were not trending in that country but now supermarkets are importing food items from every country.Walking to a supermarket to buy food is also good for their health.
Moreover, If we talk about the positive or negative development.of supermarkets. The food item or any other thing people but they find it very costly because of importing fees and taxes apart from that they have to pay the rent of the place, bills and have to pay staff, So thats why they are expensive then other local stores.Supermarkets have more positive developments then negative.
In conclusion, I believe that supermarkets are positive development then negative because having supermarkets in every corner of the city makes life easy for people they dont have to waste time finding things on other stores.Supermarkets save time because there are different section for every item incase if anyone is unable to find it their staff is always ready to help people and find them every item they are looking for in the store.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You state a position in the conclusion, saying supermarkets are a positive development, and you mention access to international food and convenience. However, the response only partially addresses the question: the discussion of importing costs and taxes is not clearly connected to whether worldwide food availability is positive or negative, and the claim that walking to a supermarket benefits health is not explained. The essay also contains only 238 words, so it does not meet the required 250-word minimum; the 13 words copied from the task prompt are not counted. Develop two relevant reasons, explain how each supports your view, and add a specific example to make your argument more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “Moreover” and “In conclusion” help identify its sections. However, progression between ideas is not always clear. The second body paragraph shifts from the costs of imported goods to the broad claim that supermarkets have more positive than negative effects, without explaining the connection. The conclusion repeats convenience and time-saving points rather than drawing together a developed argument. Some sentences also run several ideas together, making relationships harder to follow. Organise each body paragraph around one clear reason, then use linking phrases and references that show how its supporting details relate to that reason.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary, including “importing fees and taxes,” “international items,” “different section” and “save time,” so the reader can identify the general topic. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repetitive or imprecise, particularly repeated uses of “supermarkets,” “food items” and “things.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, such as “disscus,” “peope,” “but” where “buy” is intended, and “then” where “than” is needed. These errors sometimes make the reader pause. Build a more accurate range for discussing global food supply, costs and consumer choice, and check spelling and commonly confused words during revision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including a sentence beginning “because back then it was hard to find…” and a concluding sentence that gives examples of convenience. However, the range is limited, and longer sentences are often difficult to control. For example, “The food item or any other thing people but they find it very costly” has an unclear structure, while “there are different section” has a plural-agreement error. Missing or incorrect punctuation also causes run-on sentences, as in the final paragraph, and apostrophes are absent in “thats” and “dont.” Practise building accurate sentences with one main idea and supporting clauses, and check agreement, articles, plurals and sentence boundaries.
