Student answer (Band 6.0)
While some people believe that buying food of different countries from the supermarket is much better, but I strongly oppose this viewpoint due to several reasons.
One of the main reason for opposing this view is that when customers will purchase the food of international brands like uniliver etc, it would negatively impact on our local market. For instance, when consumers will focus more on foriegn foods, then the demand for national goods will fall. As a result, the GDP of country will fall due to less production of goods like spieces and honey. Therefore, the unemployement rate will rise because of the closure of food factories.
In addition, the foriegn foods are much more expensive than local foods. There is higher transport cost and impost duties imposed on other countries food like dry fruits, frozen fish etc, which can make it expensive for local customer. But the local foods are produced within the country which is far affordable, especially for low income customers. This can lead to better living standards of people as they can find food at lower prices and they would have enough money which they can spend on other needs like clothes, shoes etc.
However, some people argue that international food brands are of better tastes and quality because of the perception built through social media. They think that food items like oil and kechups are produced locally with lower quality methods like hand made kechups. Whereas, in other developed countries there are much stricter rules on the quality and standard of production of eating items. Therefore, high income customers want to buy quality foods.
To sum up, the benefits of local food far outweigh the drawbacks. As local food industry needs to be promoted in order to improve the economic health of country as it provide enormous number of jobs to locals. This can also provide goods at low prices to people even when there is recession globally because of no overhead costs like petrol and shipment cost.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: you oppose the availability of food from around the world and argue that it can harm local producers and make food more expensive. These are relevant reasons, and you also acknowledge the opposing view that imported products may be perceived as higher quality. The examples of local spices and honey, and imported dried fruit and fish, help make the discussion concrete. However, the economic chain from lower demand to falling GDP and unemployment is asserted rather than fully explained, and the final point about recession and shipping costs is not developed. To strengthen the response, explain these links more carefully and address the benefits and drawbacks with more balanced, specific support.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, body paragraphs present reasons and a counterargument, and the conclusion restates your position. Sequencing phrases such as “One of the main reason,” “In addition,” and “However” make the progression easy to follow. This organisation is effective, though some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “This can lead to better living standards” follows the point about affordability, but the link between lower prices and improved living standards could be explained more explicitly. The conclusion also introduces recession and overhead costs without preparing these ideas in the body. Use clearer links between claims and consequences, and ensure each paragraph develops one connected line of reasoning.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic vocabulary to discuss international trade and food, including “transport cost,” “impost duties,” “local market,” and “quality and standard of production.” There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “low income customers” and “closure of food factories.” However, noticeable spelling and word-choice problems reduce precision: “foriegn,” “unemployement,” “spieces,” and “kechups” are misspelled, while “food of different countries” and “eating items” are unnatural expressions. Some phrases are also imprecise, such as “better tastes.” Build accuracy with common collocations for this topic, and check spelling carefully. More precise wording would make your arguments sound clearer and more controlled.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including conditional and cause-and-effect structures: “when customers will purchase…” and “because of no overhead costs…”. This gives the response some structural variety, and the main ideas are generally understandable. However, some errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction remain. For example, “One of the main reason” needs a plural noun, “the GDP of country” needs an article or possessive, and “as it provide” has a subject–verb agreement error. The opening also combines “While” and “but” in one construction. Review these patterns and use more reliable sentence forms when expressing cause and effect; this will improve accuracy without limiting your range.
