Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You recognise that access to international food has both benefits and drawbacks, and you mention potentially relevant points such as economic growth, employment, nutrition and emissions from transport. However, the task asks you to decide whether this is a positive or negative development, and your position remains unclear: the opening says it has both advantages and disadvantages, but you do not state which side outweighs the other. Several ideas are difficult to follow or insufficiently explained, including the claims about financial stress, health care and fitness. The coffee and rice example is also too vague to support the argument. The response contains 200 words, so it is 50 words below the required minimum; this limits the opportunity to develop your position and examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is an attempt to organise the response, with an opening, a paragraph beginning “Consequently” and a contrast introduced by “Conversely.” These signals show an effort to connect ideas. However, the overall progression is difficult to follow because several points are joined without a clear relationship. For example, the discussion moves from emissions to “some individuals happiness,” earning for family, health care and protein without explaining how these ideas connect. Linking phrases such as “because of which” are repeated and often do not clarify the relationship between clauses. To improve, use separate paragraphs for the main benefit and drawback, and make each paragraph develop one central point in a clear sequence.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “international food trade,” “economic growth,” “employment opportunities” and “carbon emissions.” These phrases show some ability to discuss trade and its effects. However, the range is limited and many word-choice, collocation and spelling errors make parts of the response difficult to understand, such as “overses market products,” “coffee produce” and “people can growth other facilities.” Some key terms are also repeated, including “people,” “food” and “because of which.” Build a more accurate set of topic phrases and check spelling and word forms. For example, describe farmers as selling “their products in overseas markets,” and refer to “food transported over long distances.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including a sentence beginning “Transporting food over long distances can increase carbon emissions.” This shows an effort to use a range of structures. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction can make meaning unclear. For example, “some people thinking” needs a finite verb, while “Some farmer in developing can access other countries” has problems with number and clause structure. The sentence beginning “According to my preception” also contains an incomplete and confusing construction. Practise writing clear subject–verb sentences first, then connect them with accurate subordinate clauses. Check that each sentence expresses one complete idea.
