Student answer (Band 6.0)

With the rapid advance of science and technology, there is an available of any kind of food product to be present in the grocery stories , any where around the world. I believe this is not a positive development, as seasonal food according to the location is more suitable for the locals and exports from developing countries could lead to further food shortages.

To begin with, the scientific discoveries ahs improved the import and export industry globally, now things can be easily be available, regardless of the location and the season available. However, the food that is available according to the season or in a specific geographical location, is beneficial only for the local people that are living there. For example, in countries near equator, the climate is very hot, so mostly fruits and vegetables that grow there are those that are high in water content. Therefore, the people living in cold weather countries would have different requirements.

Moreover, the developing countries already have shortage of food supplies that its hard for the countries to provide food to its residents, but these poor farmers are forced to sell there crops to the big mafias, in order to support their families. For instance, in Africa majority of the children are under malnutrition, its hard for their families to meet their ends. In contrast, in developed countries like America , the food is already surplus, still the super markets import more products just to increase consumer demands and sales profit. Hence, the middle and low income countries would be impacted if there products are exported internationally.

In conclusion, there is an increase trend of availability of food products in the superstores that are brought from other countries, however it is not beneficial for the local people because the food nutritional requirements of the people varies according to the geography, moreover , it has a detrimental effect on developing countries, as they are already suffering from malnutrition.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction: you consider worldwide food availability negative, and the conclusion restates this view. You give two relevant reasons—local diets may suit local conditions, and exports may worsen food access in developing countries—and support them with examples involving equatorial climates and Africa. This addresses the task, but the first reason is not fully explained: the claim that people in colder countries have different requirements does not show why imported food is harmful to them. The second argument also relies on broad claims about farmers being forced to sell crops and supermarkets importing surplus food, without explaining how this affects local supplies. Develop these links more carefully and acknowledge a possible benefit, such as greater choice or year-round access, before explaining why your concerns outweigh it.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the main stages. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The first body paragraph moves from scientific discoveries to seasonal food and then to climate-related diets without clearly showing how these points support the negative position. In the second paragraph, “In contrast” introduces developed countries, but the relationship between their surplus and shortages in developing countries needs to be made explicit. Some references, including “its” and “there products,” are unclear. Use linking language to express cause and consequence precisely, and make each paragraph’s central claim and supporting explanation progress in a clear sequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “seasonal food,” “geographical location,” “food supplies,” “malnutrition,” and “consumer demands.” These choices show an adequate range for discussing the issue, and the main meaning is generally understandable. However, several word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems reduce precision: “an available of any kind” is not a natural expression, “grocery stories” appears to mean “grocery stores,” and “meet their ends” is an inaccurate version of the idiom. “Big mafias” is also an imprecise description of the buyers. Aim for natural combinations such as “the availability of a wide range of foods,” “local produce,” and “meet basic needs.” Check spelling and word forms carefully, especially in phrases central to your argument.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “as,” “so,” and “because,” and most of the argument remains understandable. Some grammatical errors occur across the response, however. For example, “the scientific discoveries ahs improved” has subject–verb and verb-form problems, while “things can be easily be available” repeats the auxiliary structure. Agreement is also inconsistent in “the food nutritional requirements of the people varies,” and the sentence beginning “Moreover, the developing countries already have shortage” contains unclear clause construction. Punctuation around commas and sentence boundaries is sometimes faulty, particularly where several ideas are joined together. Review subject–verb agreement, articles, and verb patterns, then proofread each sentence to ensure its clauses are complete and correctly connected.
