Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You present both advantages and disadvantages and give a clear overall preference for the positive side, especially in the opening and conclusion. The points about convenience, saving travel, and possible health risks are relevant to the question. However, the position is not fully consistent: the introduction promises a discussion of advantages, while the conclusion introduces addiction and cravings without developing this idea in the body. Several supporting points are also unclear or insufficiently explained—for example, the reference to beverages and fast food does not show why access to imported food is beneficial, and the claim that imported food may be low quality needs a more specific explanation or example. Develop fewer points more fully and make your judgement explicit throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for benefits and drawbacks, and a conclusion. Connectors such as “To begin with,” “In addition,” and “On the other hand” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is often difficult to follow because several ideas are joined together without clear relationships. For instance, the paragraph about benefits moves from nearby shopping to favourite foods, travel costs, and countries’ cuisines without explaining each link. Some transitions are mechanical, and references such as “that food” are not always precise. Organise each body paragraph around one main point, then explain and illustrate it before moving on; ensure the conclusion summarises the argument already developed.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “marketplace,” “health issues,” “preserved,” and “quality,” and you attempt phrases such as “vital benefit” and “serious health issues.” However, the range is limited and several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the meaning harder to understand. Examples include “approach our delightful meal,” “food produces,” and “the condition of that food is not much more impressive.” Spelling errors such as “modren,” “benifit,” “expences,” and “inported” are also noticeable. Aim for precise, natural collocations and check spelling carefully. Using topic-specific terms such as “imported produce,” “food safety standards,” and “year-round availability” would help express your ideas more clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “while,” “although,” and “when.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence formation, verb forms, agreement, articles, and punctuation frequently affect clarity. For example, “To began” should use the infinitive form, while “This may leads” has an incorrect verb form; “one vital benefit is it become easy” also needs a clearer grammatical structure. Several sentences run together, particularly in the benefits paragraph, and commas are missing or misplaced. Practise building accurate sentences around one main clause, then add subordinate clauses only when you can control their structure. Proofread for subject–verb agreement, verb forms, and sentence boundaries.
