Student answer (Band 5.5)

Societies over the decades have emerged, and so that, how we deal with daily-life. back in 19s when industrialization took place and lives around us changes more and more food industries started all over the world. and along the time the large productions were not only have distrubtion within the countries, the trade exanded all over the world. and significant business success have been seen. this whole chain incfluced the consumer market too, everyone's lives become faster specially in the globalization where people have migrated to saveral different countries, presence of local food demand in these areas have increased. Thinking around these two factors, we can clearly see why buyers in supermarket have increased.

Food represents its people, culture and region. and the presence of supermarkets with food produced from different part of the world, I believe is a positive development from a various point of view for example I once visited Iran and no doubt I loved what I ate there but after a few days I couldnt handle the fact that how plain and taste less their food tasted when I wanted to experience a brust of spices on my tougue, missing the food I have in my hometown in Pakistan. Here is when I started searching for any Pakistani food brand in supermarkets and I found some readymade kebab pack and that kebabs made my day, otherwise I could have fainted after feeling low blood suger with the food I was having with almost no spices and only aroma. Similarly, what I think when a family migrates or a student start living abroad, they definitely want to have these ready to use food products. especially in the begining I would say.

On the other perspective, I can be seen how world has now connected through social media in the era of globalization, people constantly seeing different parts of the world and their cultures on their fingertips, and this has made people crave to experience the food they have seen on reels or videos and there is these food available in supermarkets become handy, in this way people not only get what they were missing but other people get to exprience the taste of a part of the world they never visited.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you consider international food in supermarkets a positive development. You support this with relevant points about migrants and students finding familiar food, and about shoppers discovering cuisines they have seen online. The personal example of finding Pakistani kebabs in Iran also makes the first point concrete. This addresses the question, but the discussion is uneven: the benefits for migrants are illustrated at length, while the wider cultural and consumer benefits are asserted more briefly. The opening focuses on industrialisation and global trade without clearly linking those developments to your evaluation. To strengthen the response, develop each main reason in a more balanced way and explain its broader significance, rather than relying mainly on personal experience.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable overall structure: background, a paragraph supporting your view with a personal example, and a further point about social media and cultural discovery. This gives the reader a general sense of progression. However, connections between ideas are sometimes unclear or mechanical. The opening moves rapidly from industrialisation to migration and supermarket demand, and phrases such as “On the other perspective” do not accurately signal the relationship between the paragraphs, since both present benefits. Several sentences run together, while repeated uses of “and” make the progression harder to follow. Use clearer topic sentences, divide long sentences, and make each paragraph develop one main reason with explicit links between its supporting details.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “industrialization,” “globalization,” “migrates,” “crave,” and “experience,” and you can communicate ideas about food, culture, and international trade. However, the range is limited by frequent spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural combinations, such as “large productions,” “food demand,” “taste less,” and “a brust of spices.” These choices sometimes make the reader pause to interpret your meaning. Some expressions are also informal for an academic essay, including “made my day” and “on their fingertips.” Aim for accurate collocations and a more consistently formal register; proofreading spelling and word forms will help your vocabulary appear more controlled.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses beginning with “when,” “where,” and “after,” and you use some subordination to explain causes and examples. However, control is inconsistent, and faulty sentence construction often makes relationships between ideas difficult to follow. For example, “Societies over the decades have emerged, and so that, how we deal with daily-life” is not a complete, well-formed sentence, while “the trade exanded all over the world” sits within a sequence with unclear tense and clause structure. There are also problems with agreement and verb forms, as in “people have migrated … presence … have increased.” Practise building complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs, and check tense consistency, agreement, articles, and punctuation.
