Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a clear overall preference for the positive side, especially in the opening (“I strongly believe” in the advantages), and you also acknowledge a drawback: supermarkets may harm small local shops. These points are relevant to the question. However, the position is not consistently explained: the introduction asks whether the development is positive, but the conclusion gives substantial weight to the negative effect without clearly resolving which side is stronger. The benefits are also asserted rather than fully explained; for example, the link between supermarket food quality and protection from disease needs a clearer, more credible explanation. Develop fewer points with specific examples and make your final judgement explicit throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable essay structure, with an introduction, a paragraph about benefits, a paragraph about disadvantages, and a conclusion. This gives the reader a basic route through your ideas. However, progression within paragraphs is often difficult to follow because several claims are joined together without clear explanation. For instance, the benefits paragraph moves from food quality to health and then employment, while the relationship between these points is not established. Linking expressions such as “to begin with,” “nevertheless,” and “in conclusion” help signal stages, but some are used mechanically or do not clarify the connection between sentences. Organise each body paragraph around one main idea, then explain and illustrate it in a clear sequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “flexibility,” “employment,” “local market,” and “economy,” and you try to express ideas about consumer choice and small businesses. However, the range is limited and many word-choice, spelling, and collocation errors make parts difficult to understand. Examples include “in all over the glob,” “edilbles,” “collab relations,” and “callicuram of shopes.” Some phrases, such as “good quality of food” and “food product,” are repeated rather than varied. Build accuracy with common topic collocations before attempting more ambitious wording: for example, use “food from around the world,” “a wide range of products,” and “local businesses.” Proofreading spelling and word forms would also make your meaning clearer.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “although,” “if,” and “for example.” This shows an effort to use more than one sentence pattern. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent problems with sentence boundaries, verb forms, agreement, articles, and plurals make the argument hard to follow. For example, “although, buy edilbles produced has significant benefit it give…” lacks a clear grammatical structure, while “it is benefical” does not agree with the intended plural subject in the conclusion. Several sentences run together without appropriate punctuation. Practise writing shorter, complete sentences first, then combine them using accurate subordinate clauses. Check subject–verb agreement and use of articles before submitting.
