Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this modern era, customers in many nations can go to a superstore and purchase food which is manufactured from all over the globe. I believe that this a positive development because it saved the extra time and money of the consumers and drives the economy of different nations very well.

To begin with, the citizens of different nations can now purchase their particular food very easily by just visiting the nearby superstores or market which came from different countries. It have saved a lot of time of people because the food that they want had came from different country. So if they want the food, they need to travel to different country. So it saved the extra money and time of individuals. It costs them very cheap when they buy from a grocery store or a hypermarket. It is very great step towards the convenience of citizen. For example, my friend likes to eat pasta which originally made in Ireland. So in order to eat pasta, he need to travel to Ireland which will be very costly. But by today's advancement of supermarkets, he can now bought pasta from his local shops.

On the other hand, the supermarkets are driving the most essential pillars of the economies of different nations. When people buy different food from hypermarkets, eventually do benefit to the country's economy. Because there is a certain kind of tax which is deducted from price of the food. It boosts the economy of different nations. For example, in 2013 Japan made about 3.4 billion dollars revenue from the supermarkets. So it is very beneficial for the country's survival.

In conclusion, the rapid advancement in hypermarkets are giving benefits to citizen of different nations as well as to the economy of the nations.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You give a clear, consistent view that access to international food is positive, and you support it with two relevant reasons: convenience for consumers and economic benefits. The pasta example helps illustrate your first point, while the tax and Japan example attempt to support the second. However, some ideas are less fully developed than others. The claim that consumers would otherwise need to travel abroad is overstated, and the economic paragraph does not explain clearly how supermarket purchases benefit different countries or establish the relevance of the Japan figure. Develop these points with more precise reasoning and examples, and acknowledge a possible drawback before explaining why the benefits outweigh it.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion that restates your position. Signposting such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” makes the structure easy to follow. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and links between ideas are not always clear. In the first body paragraph, repeated “So” sentences make the reasoning feel list-like; the shift from avoiding travel to food being cheap also needs a clearer connection. The second paragraph’s opening says supermarkets drive economic pillars, but the explanation and example do not fully show that progression. Use fewer repeated transitions and connect each example explicitly to its main point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to discuss the topic, including “consumers,” “hypermarkets,” “convenience,” “revenue,” and “economy.” These choices show some range beyond basic everyday language, and the main meaning is generally clear. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, which limits precision. Food is “produced,” rather than “manufactured,” and “food produced all over the globe” would be more natural than “food which is manufactured from all over the globe.” Phrases such as “very great step” and “essential pillars of the economies” are awkward, while “different nations” and “superstores” recur often. Aim for more natural topic-specific phrasing and vary repeated terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a reason clause beginning “because” and a conditional example with “if.” The overall meaning can usually be understood, but errors in verb forms, agreement, and sentence construction occur across the response. Examples include “I believe that this a positive development,” “It have saved,” “he need to travel,” and “he can now bought pasta.” The sentence “When people buy different food from hypermarkets, eventually do benefit to the country's economy” is also missing a clear subject and has an incomplete structure. Work on subject–verb agreement and consistent verb forms, and check that each sentence has a complete clause. More accurate control of these patterns would make your ideas easier to follow.
