Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address the question and make your position clear in the conclusion: you consider the development negative, citing possible harm to local businesses and health concerns. The essay also includes a relevant benefit—access to foods from other countries—and gives examples such as Japanese cuisine and imported milk brands. However, the opening promises to discuss both views without clearly stating your own position, and the positive point is only briefly explained. The health argument appears mainly in the conclusion, with claims about chemicals, production dates and sugar that are not developed or supported earlier. To strengthen the response, state your view in the introduction and explain each main reason with a clearer cause-and-effect link and a specific, relevant example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable essay structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for opposing views and a conclusion. Paragraphing helps the reader identify the main points, and phrases such as “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” signal contrast. However, progression is uneven: the introduction says the essay will discuss both views before presenting an opinion, while the conclusion introduces health concerns that have not been developed in the body. Some linking is mechanical or unclear, as in “In consequently,” and repeated result markers such as “As a result” do not always connect ideas smoothly. Improve cohesion by keeping each paragraph focused on one reason, linking examples explicitly to that reason, and ensuring the conclusion summarises points already established.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “imported food products,” “local business,” “consumers” and “strict policies,” which makes the subject clear. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “international food products” and “overall health.” However, frequent spelling errors—including “benifit,” “cusines,” “Resturants” and “challanges”—reduce accuracy, while some word choices and collocations are awkward, such as “food collections,” “local productions” and “high chemicals.” These sometimes make the intended meaning less precise. Build accuracy by checking spelling carefully and learning common combinations, for example “a variety of cuisines,” “local food producers” and “high levels of sugar.” Aim for precise wording rather than repeating broad terms such as “items” and “products.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “a person who likes Japanese cuisine” and a conditional structure with “can lose their income.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence construction, verb forms, articles and agreement sometimes make the reader pause. For example, the opening joins two independent ideas with a comma, “its available” lacks the correct verb form, and “many local productions can be vanish” uses an incorrect verb pattern. The conclusion also contains a sentence fragment beginning “such as.” Practise separating complete sentences with full stops or suitable conjunctions, and check subject–verb agreement and verb patterns. More accurate control of these basic structures will make your ideas easier to follow.
