Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent years, many marketplaces in most of the countries sell different food items from all over the world. I belive this is a very positive development because it will not only make locals acknowledge different cusines from other cultures, but also help grow international relationships by making frequent imports and exports.

Firstly, having food manufactured all over the world in supermarkets makes the residents try different flavours existing around the globe. This allows people to recognize other cultures, and hit their taste buds with an unusual taste. For example, Pakistani locals can try packaged sushi imported from Korea. This will create a sense of curiosity in them to explore more about the Korean culture and also allow them to try something different from their everyday consumption.

Furthermore, it will increase the annual exports and imports between different countries and hence pose a positive affect on the overall economy. If people get used to a particular foreign product they consume it in bulk and on regular basis. This creates a room for frequent and more imports of that particular food item, eventually increasing imports for themselves and exports for the others, thus contrinuting to the overall economy. For instance, Pakistan exports it's National Biryani Masala on huge scale across a range of countries, and thus increasing the anual profit.

To conclude, different food products easily available in the supermarkets improves the economy by frequent exports, not only that it also allows the local residents to try a wide variety of flavours in their own homeland.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction: you consider worldwide food availability positive, and the conclusion restates this view. You address the question with two relevant reasons—exposure to other cuisines and increased trade—and support them with examples such as Pakistani consumers trying sushi and Pakistan exporting biryani masala. However, the two points are not developed equally. The cultural example explains how curiosity might arise, while the economic argument relies on a broad claim that regular consumption will increase imports and exports, without explaining possible effects or giving much detail about the example. Develop each reason with a clearer chain of explanation and ensure examples directly demonstrate the claimed benefit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs signposted by “Firstly” and “Furthermore,” and a conclusion. The ideas generally progress logically within each paragraph, and linking phrases such as “For example” and “To conclude” help the reader follow the argument. This is a coherent arrangement, with some flexibility in how you connect points. At times, however, connections feel mechanical, and the long sentence beginning “This creates a room” packs several steps into one sequence. The conclusion also repeats the main points rather than drawing them together. Use clearer sentence breaks and vary transitions, while making references such as “the others” more explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “flavours,” “imports and exports,” “overall economy,” and “everyday consumption,” which helps communicate your ideas. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “sense of curiosity.” However, several word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems make the language less natural: “food manufactured” is not the best fit for food sold internationally, “positive affect” should be “positive effect,” and “contrinuting” and “anual” are misspelled. “Hit their taste buds with an unusual taste” is awkward and repetitive. Aim for accurate, natural collocations and proofread spelling; this will make your vocabulary more precise without requiring unnecessarily complex words.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including the “not only…but also” construction and conditional sentences such as “If people get used to a particular foreign product…” Most of the meaning remains clear, and the paragraphs include some well-formed sentences. Some grammatical errors persist, however. In the opening, “many marketplaces in most of the countries sell” has an awkward subject and article pattern; “people…consume it in bulk and on regular basis” needs more accurate agreement and article use; and “different food products…improves” has a plural subject with a singular verb. The final sentence also joins two independent ideas with a comma. Review subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries, then check each sentence for a complete and correctly connected structure.
