Student answer (Band 5.5)

In modern times , going to the super market is a very common habit opted by many individuals to buy food produced all over the world as supermarkets contain a variety of different foods by various countries .This allows people to get a hold of a international product in there home country which not only increases satisfaction in consumers .However, gives them a variety of choices increasing consumer demands and hence taxes earned by government from businesses like supermarkets that earn a decent amount due to increase in sales by selling international items and various products . Therefore, this change will not only reduce trade barriers but will also lead to free trade movement .

Consequently, the taxes earned by government can be further invested in infrastructural development and towards the aims that bring improvement in the economy .Though international products such as food items are available in supermarkets however, these products may be expensive and costly towards consumers due to addition of customs and delivery charges which may affect the demand for international food products which have a chance of reaching there expiry date if not sold in the long run .Simultaneously , supermarkets may sell these goods by offering discounts which becomes word of mouth .

In my opinion, The acessibility to consumers nowadays of aquiring international products at there local supermarket allowing better relations between countries and also promoting competitive advantage to countries leading to a positive impact on development of all countries as a whole and consumers are faced with foods of different cultures and tastes making them aware of different cuisines.e.g people all around the world are aware of buldak noodles that were originated from korea and is now available all across supermarkets in different countries and is a very demanded product allowing development not only supporting korea's gdp but also increasing it's balance of payments due to inflows occured by exporting it's food products internationally.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is positive and is stated clearly in the final paragraph: you argue that access to international food improves consumer choice and relations between countries. You also give relevant supporting points, including possible tax revenue and the example of Korean buldak noodles. This addresses the question, but the development is uneven. The discussion of taxes, free trade and economic benefits is asserted rather than explained, and the possible drawback of higher prices and unsold food is introduced without showing how it affects your overall judgement. To strengthen the response, explain each main reason with a clear cause-and-effect link and make the positive conclusion consistent throughout, including when acknowledging disadvantages.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is an overall structure, moving from benefits to a possible drawback and then to your opinion and example. Linking expressions such as “Consequently,” “Though” and “In my opinion” help signal these stages. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow because several separate claims are packed into long sentences, and the first paragraph shifts quickly from consumer choice to taxes, trade barriers and free trade. The contrast between the drawback and your positive position also needs clearer handling. Use one central idea per paragraph, develop it before moving on, and make references such as “these products” and “this change” unmistakably clear. More controlled sentence breaks would make the argument easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “trade barriers,” “infrastructural development,” “competitive advantage” and “balance of payments.” These choices show an attempt to discuss economic effects beyond basic consumer benefits. Some less common expressions are not used naturally or precisely, however: “a hold of a international product,” “word of mouth” for discounted sales, and “inflows occured” make parts of the meaning less clear. Spelling and word-form slips such as “acessibility,” “aquiring” and “demanded” also reduce accuracy. Aim for natural collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, describe products as “widely available” and say that a product is “in high demand.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “which,” “though” and “that,” and the main argument remains understandable. However, some sentences are incomplete or overloaded. “This allows people … which not only increases satisfaction … However, gives them…” leaves the second part without a complete grammatical structure. There are also errors in articles, agreement and possessives, as in “a international product,” “consumers are faced with foods … making them aware,” and “it's balance of payments.” Punctuation around sentence boundaries is inconsistent, making long sentences harder to process. Build complex sentences around a clear main clause, check subject–verb agreement and articles, and use full stops to separate distinct claims.
