Student answer (Band 5.5)
In contemporary society, many countries has supermarkets where a substantial variety of food products all over the world are available to customers. In my opinion this is a positive development. Because, supermarkets can provide convenience, availability of every household product in addition to groceries.
To commence with, Evolving grocery shopping trends considerabily increases supermarkets in every country, which ultimately offers much convenience when we compare with traditional grocery stores. In supermarkets everything is availble under one roof. so people should not have to visit diiferent stores for different things. For instance, previously people have to go different stores for milk, groceries and other household necessities. After the establisment of supermarkets almost everyrhing is avilable under one umbrella.
Moreover, an increasing number of supermarkets runs discount prices on their products, where consumer can buy at half price. This can benifit both economically disadvantaged individulas and business persons who possess significant wealth. Epitome, people who cannot afford expensive groceries at reatil stores can purchase same products at dicounted prices in supermarkets. Whereas people who owns a supermarket can have significant customer repeat to their supermarkets thereby increasing profits in their business.
Admittedly, due to supermarkets small scale retail stores may face huge customer loss and this surge in trend may take a diversion in business and consumer attraction which ultimately creates monopoly in grocery market. For example, Big super markets like, D-mart, smart bazaar has verygood customer repeat rate due to their discounted prices and festive offers.
In conclusion, surgically increase in supermarkets may offers convenience, discounts and availability to consumer, it can also lead to shutting down most of the small scale businesses which should not be overlooked.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
Your position is clear: you consider international food availability a positive development, while acknowledging that supermarkets can harm small retailers. The convenience and discount-price points are relevant, and the example of D-Mart and Smart Bazaar gives the discussion some context. However, the response only partially develops the task: it focuses mainly on supermarkets’ general convenience and pricing, rather than explaining the significance of being able to buy food produced around the world. The claim that supermarkets offer “every household product” also shifts attention away from the question. Develop the global-food aspect directly—for example, year-round access to products unavailable locally—and explain its benefits or drawbacks. Extend the small-business concern with a clearer explanation of its consequences.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for benefits and a drawback, and a conclusion. Paragraphs generally have a central focus, and signposts such as “Moreover,” “Admittedly,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the direction of the argument. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. “To commence with” introduces a point, but the following sentence about evolving shopping trends does not clearly explain how international food availability is involved. The example beginning “Epitome” is also difficult to connect to the preceding claim, and “Whereas” creates an awkward transition. Use clearer links between each claim and its example, and make the conclusion accurately summarise the argument rather than introducing the unclear phrase “surgically increase.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of topic-related vocabulary, including “convenience,” “discount prices,” “economically disadvantaged,” “monopoly,” and “festive offers.” These choices show an effort to discuss both consumer benefits and business effects. However, inaccurate word choice, collocation, and spelling are noticeable and sometimes make meaning difficult to follow. For example, “Epitome” does not introduce an example, “customer repeat” is not a natural phrase for repeat patronage, and “surgically increase” does not express the intended idea. There are also misspellings such as “considerabily,” “availble,” and “benifit.” Choose familiar, precise expressions when unsure, and proofread spelling; this will make your ideas clearer and your vocabulary more effective.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a concession beginning “Admittedly” and a relative clause in “people who cannot afford expensive groceries.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in agreement, verb forms, sentence boundaries, and punctuation sometimes make the argument harder to understand. Examples include “many countries has,” “supermarkets runs,” and “people who owns”; these subjects require matching plural or singular verb forms. The opening fragment “Because, supermarkets can provide…” should be joined to the preceding sentence or rewritten as a complete sentence. Capitalisation after full stops is also inconsistent. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and sentence boundaries, then review each sentence for a clear main clause.
