Student answer (Band 5.5)
In this era, supermarkets plays a very prominent role across all the nations by providing almost every sorts of food items available in different regions as well. I believe it is a positive development because individuals can buy every variety of food under a single roof, which is very time saving for them, and it also helps in building a strong economic wealth of the country for example building huge buildings for shopping areas.
To commence with, supermarkets are becoming the first choice of individuals nowadays because it offers a variety of products and people buy stuff according to their need they and by this people get a whale of time and can spend their leisure time improving their skills and anything they want to do they can. Moreover, there a lot of benefits of shopping in supermarkts for example consumers gets a significant amount of discounts on their shoppings.
Furthermore, it plays a dominent role in uplifting the countries wealth by making vast supermarkets which helps in building the infrastructure more advanced, and attracts a lot of tourist from other nations and it remarkeably leaves a good impression in the development of the country globally. Moreover, it also helps in making a good trade relation with other countries.
In conclusion, the widespread availability of international food in local supermarkets represents a positive role while it may pose minor challenges to local farming production. This trend enriches the lives of modern consumers globally. In emergencies other countries will also help us in any situation because of the good relation.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you consider international food in supermarkets a positive development, and you give reasons involving convenience, consumer choice, discounts and trade relations. These points are relevant to the question. However, the explanation is uneven and some claims are not clearly connected to the availability of food from around the world. For example, the link between supermarkets and “building huge buildings” or attracting tourists is asserted rather than explained. The possible effect on local farming appears only briefly in the conclusion and is not developed. To strengthen the response, explain how imported food benefits consumers or economies, and support each main reason with a specific example. This would make the argument more fully addressed and developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Paragraphs generally group related points, and linking expressions such as “To commence with,” “Furthermore” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the first body paragraph moves from product choice to leisure time and then discounts without showing how these ideas connect. Some references, such as “it” in “it plays a dominant role,” are not fully clear, and the conclusion introduces emergency assistance rather abruptly. Aim to organise each paragraph around one main reason, then explain and illustrate it. Use linking words selectively and make references explicit so the argument flows more naturally.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “variety of products,” “discounts,” “infrastructure” and “trade relation,” and the overall meaning is usually understandable. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “widespread availability” and “positive development.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “a whale of time,” “economic wealth,” “a positive role” and “good relation.” Spelling errors such as “supermarkts,” “domin ent” and “remark eably” also reduce accuracy. Build precision by learning common word partnerships and checking spelling; for instance, describe supermarkets as saving consumers time, and refer to stronger trade ties rather than a good relation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because,” “which” and “while.” This gives the response some structural variety, and the main ideas can generally be followed. However, errors in agreement, sentence construction and articles recur. For example, “supermarkets plays” should have a plural verb, while “it offers” does not agree with the plural subject “supermarkets.” The sentence beginning “people buy stuff according to their need they” contains an incomplete, confusing construction, and “there a lot of benefits” is missing a verb. Some long sentences also join several ideas without clear punctuation. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and building one complete clause at a time, especially when combining ideas with conjunctions.
