Student answer (Band 6.0)

With the development of agriculture in many countries, it has become possible for the people to buy food which is not produced in their own country. They can purchase every kind of eatables from all over the world.

In my opinion, it is a positive development for the human beings. Although there are preservatives involved in storing the food for the long time, but it can be overcome by maintaining a proper check and balance. This progression helps improving the economy of countries and developing more strong connections between them.

Supermarketes are generating a big amount of profit through this change. The price range of the products can be costly because of the preservation and shipping process of the food. Some products which do not need to be preserved, mostly involve another hinderance. For example, the packaging of dry fruits can be costly. In addition, when some coutries import their foods to other countries, they make the packaging look premium. This process requires more amount of money. On the other hand, these types of food with premium packaging are sold on a very high profit margin. The sellers generate a profitable revenue. This process helps in growing the economy by paying more taxes to the government.

The import and export of food items pave the way of comradship between two countries . It is helpfull for the coutries' interest. The connections between two countries', through importing and exporting, become stronger through frequent dealings. For example, a country signs a contract of many years with another particullar country. It helps in managing and developing their profits for a long period of time.

In conclusion, although the process of shipping eatables from one country to another country involves a huge cost, it is becoming popular in every country after managing the problem through different ways. Infact, I would say that this development has become essential for every country as per the consumers demand.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you consider worldwide food availability a positive development, and you give two relevant reasons—economic benefits and stronger relationships between countries. The examples about premium packaging, tax revenue and long-term trade contracts help explain these points. However, the economic discussion focuses mainly on profits for supermarkets and sellers, so the wider benefit to consumers or food-producing countries is not fully established. The point about preservatives and shipping costs is introduced but not explored in enough detail, and the conclusion asserts that imports are essential without explaining why. Develop each main reason more evenly and connect the examples directly to the positive effects on society.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for economic and diplomatic benefits, and a conclusion. The progression from the general position to supporting reasons is easy to follow, and phrases such as “For example” and “On the other hand” help signal relationships between ideas. However, some links are mechanical or unclear: “This process” is repeated and can refer to several different actions, while the contrast introduced by “On the other hand” does not clearly oppose the preceding point. The opening also mentions preservatives, but this idea is not carried through the body. Use more precise referencing and make each paragraph develop one connected line of reasoning.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a reasonable range of topic-related vocabulary, including “preservatives,” “packaging,” “import and export,” “contract” and “profit margin.” These choices help communicate the subject and show attempts to use less common language. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “every kind of eatables,” “a big amount of profit,” “hinderance” and “profitable revenue.” There are also spelling errors, including “Supermarketes,” “coutries” and “particullar,” which reduce accuracy. Aim for more natural combinations and check spelling carefully; for example, use “a wide variety of foods,” “substantial profits” and “obstacle” where appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a concessive opening with “Although” and longer sentences explaining trade relationships. Most of your meaning remains understandable, and the paragraphs contain some correctly formed sentences. However, some grammatical errors recur. In “Although there are preservatives involved …, but it can be overcome,” the concessive structure is incorrectly combined with “but,” and “it” does not clearly refer to the problem. Other examples include “helps improving” instead of “helps to improve,” “It is helpfull” where the verb form is incorrect, and “a country signs a contract … It helps” where the reference is unclear. Review clause structure, verb patterns and pronoun reference, while continuing to vary sentence forms.
